Guest guest
A lot of Lyme patients (never diagnosed with CFIDS) have the same viral infections CFIDS patients have, and some of them are taking Valcyte for HHV-6 along with antibiotics.? It does not seem uncommon for people to need both. I'm taking herbs along with the antibiotics.? For those who have Lyme but don't want to do antibiotics, it's worth checking out the top Lyme herb protocols by Dr. Cowden, Dr. Zhang, and Buhner (outlined in his book Healing Lyme -- well worth the read).? However, it seems that few Lyme patients get better from herbs along, though many switch over to herbs either completely or partially after being on antibiotics for a long time. I had a negative test from Igenex years ago, and now my tests are positive.? It's important to test and test again, and also to look at your own tests -- particularly the Western Blot, which may have positive, Lyme-specific bands but still be called " negative. " ? Remember, Lyme is a clinical diagnosis, so those bands are not meaningless combined with the symptoms we all have. Co-infections are really the most interesting part as far as I'm concerned.? The Lyme patients who also have co-infections (babesia, bartonella, ehrlichia, rocky mountain spotted fever, etc.) have a much more complicated presentation and harder recovery.? Lyme is also called " the great imitator " so it can look like a lot of things. Right now I'm treating as if I have acute Lyme in addition to CFIDS, but I'm not ruling out the possibility that I've had Lyme all along.?
