Guest guest
Hi a, no I was/am taking compounded medicine - Thyroid Extract, and in addition, T3. I had the freeT3 and T4 tests and the reverse T3. I'm just taking the Thyroid Extract at present, having found the T3 now too much. When I see the doctor in a week's time I'll have more tests. I haven't had any for a year. At that point I was taking the T3 only, and both T3 and T4 were in the low range. Guest guest
I have no idea about how thyroid and MCS go together but have you seen Grace Ziems site on MCS? A very different protocol and it looks like one you could put together yourself. I hope to try it sometime. <infinity2@...> wrote: Hi a, no I was/am taking compounded medicine - Thyroid Extract, and in addition, T3. I had the freeT3 and T4 tests and the reverse T3. Guest guest
The toxins, in addition to inhibiting cell function, have invaded the central nervous system and injured deep brain structures, especially the hypothalamus, resulting in problems with virtually every hormone in the body. Guest guest
I haven't heard of her before Cort. I'm just downloading the site now. Thanks! Guest guest
I was put on Cytomel for a " low normal " thyroid, and I feel that it contributed to excessive bone loss. I am 59 and have the bones of an 85 year old. Thanks doc for making my life worse not better. Judi --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? I have to wonder what your free-T3 was before and during this usage, and whether it was being monitored. Cytomel is rarely given by itself for simple hypothyroid, sometimes a tiny amount is added to a T4 med, or Cytomel alone is occasionally used in special situations such as FM, 's, or post-thyroidectomy or post-RAI where other thyroid meds didn't do as well. Before T3 is given alone, other thyroid meds are usually tried first. Low-normal thyroid would normally be tx with a synthetic T4 med, expecting you to convert T4 to T3 normally. If that wasn't fully successful, then add some T3 med to go with the T4, or go to a combination natural porcine T4/T3 med such as Armour thyroid (which has a higher proportion of T3 in it than human thyroid). So much can conspire to deplete bone density by age 59, including low sex hormones, high inflammation with its high cytokines and high MMPs, lack of impact exercise, lack of various nutrients including Vit D, calcium, mag, copper and boron, low body weight, sedentary lifestyle, too much thyroid hormone, too much cortisol, parathyroid issues, too much Vit A, etc. I'll have an article on this subject soon. Guest guest
That stinks Judi. Any quick fix will do, but you have the long term effects to deal with. It gets me how they slander alternative medicine and yet don't seem to have to be accountable for the damage they do on a daily basis. Certain supplements have been banned, deemed dangerous, and yet you can be given a drug like that. It's criminal. Re: ME/CFS MCS and hypothyroidism - how it all fits together?
