Guest guest
I am new to this group, though I've had severe CFS for 25+ years. I have two questions: I've been following the Amygdala Re-Training conversation and I am wondering if those who have tried Dr. Gupta's program could say more about the specifics of what it involves. I know what he's saying about the theory, but his website provides very little in the way of details about what his program actually has you do. I am a meditator and am familiar with a number of neurological repatterning practices, so I am curious about what Gupta's program consists of that may be different. His theory may or may not be psychobabble and it may or may not set the movement back and it may or may not help people but what I want to know is: What exactly is it? As far as I'm concerned, theory isn't anything without practice, and I've heard enough theories that worked better or worse than I expected, so I want to know what his program IS before I'll come to any real conclusions. The theory is only half the story. I think I'm repeating myself, so I'll move on to my second question: I also am wondering what folks think about Pall's recent work describing the NO-O-NO cycle, and whether anyone has tried any of his recommendations, or if you all think he's full of crap and just pushing either (1) psychobabble or (2) supplements (he is affilliated with Levine's supplement company). If folks aren't familiar with his work, I can post a few links to more info, to aid in the discussion. I personally believe that our situation is complicated, and that if it were an easy fix we'd all be well already. Yes, there has not been enough research, but even so, I don't personally expect, after all these years, to ever find the one perfect answer, some new drug or miraculous treatment, that will cure this damn thing and end the conversation. I'd like it, but I don't see it on the immediate horizon either. I have thrown a lot of stuff at my condition, including the kitchen sink, and sometimes it's helped at the margins and that little bit of improvement has been enough to keep me alive at times, so I value the little improvements. When you're as sick as I am, for as long as I have been, that little bit can mean the world. Anyone who sells that short loses credibility with me because all it means to me is that you're well enough not to need that little bit extra just to stay alive, so that little bit seems meaningless to you but not to me.
