Scholarship money has been made available through the 15th International

Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm (15th ICRDRH) for people

who use/inject illicit drugs to attend the conference.

Please note this money is designated solely for people who use/inject

illicit drugs and/or are consumers of drug treatment services. The

management of this scholarship process is being undertaken by the Australian

Injecting and Illicit Drug Users League (AIVL), Australia's national drug

user organisation.

Scholarship Application Process

The conference organisers are pleased to announce that there is an amount of

money being made available to assist drug user representatives to attend the

conference. As the event is being held in Australia, the Australian

Injecting and Illicit Drug Users League, (AIVL) is managing the application

process. The actual allocation of the money is being managed by the

conference organisers.

If you are interested in attending the conference and require financial

assistance please send your application to Nickyb@...

<mailto:Nickyb@...> and cc the application to jude@...

in your application:

- Why you want to attend the conference

- Abstract details

- Have you been to an international harm reduction conference before?

- What do you need the money for?

- Where else are you obtaining funding from?

Criteria

AIVL will allocate the money using the following guidelines:

1. The applicant has submitted and has had accepted an abstract (please

send confirmation of successful abstract with application)

2. The applicant has obtained some financial assistance from other

sources

3. How many times the applicant has previously attended the

international harm reduction conference

In addition the following will influence the process of allocating the

funds:

1. That there is representation by as many countries as possible

2. Countries traditionally not represented will receive greater

consideration

Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the application process by the

5th March 2004. At this time applicants details will be forwarded to the

conference organisers who are managing the allocation process. Please note that

AIVL is only managing the application process and will not have any role in the

sending of money, arranging flights and accommodation or conference

registrations.
