Guest guest
Marti, The trick is to find a good endocrinologist, and you really need one at least at first, to figure your case out. If he/she sees you for about a year every three months and you are stablized you can just go to your regular GP after that and get the 3 thyroid tests run, say, once a year??? It sounds like you had a good doctor doing this, so make sure they test you again in the same way every so often. Chances are, you are all right. My TSH level became unusable at the same time as I got very sick with cfs that seemed like mono. Otherwise, prior to that I was doing fine on synthroid for years. Just keep an eye on things. There is a shortage of endos in the US, and some are kind of stupid - I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but you know what I mean. So ask around and if that fails maybe call the office and ask the nurse if the doc routinely runs Free T3 levels and T4 levels. That should give you a clue. Any doc just using TSH all the time is not doing his job. Hope this suggestion helps. a Carnes
