Guest guest
http://www.ahummingbirdsguide.com/wcheney.htm I've been reading more re Cheney's heart issue - an opening between the two sides of the heart that should have stayed closed since birth but is open in 80% of cfs patients. Guess what, this opening also causes migraine headaches. I found that Carol Seiverling from Dallas was taking Cheney's treatment protocol to relieve this heart problem. Does anyone know where she might still post information on herself or Cheney? Here is the quote from the link above **Patent Foramen Ovales in CFS " A PFO is a flap-valve that allows blood to flow between the two upper chambers of the heart. Present in babies before they are born, it usually seals shut after birth but remains in up to 20% of normal adults in whom it can open under certain rare conditions. PFO's are unusually common in CFS, with up to 80% of patients testing positive. The presence of a PFO in CFS can be very problematic. The underlying reason for the increase in PFO's in CFS may be the underlying energy deficits at the cellular level. Dr. Cheney believes that PFO closure in CFS poses certain risks and there are indications that his treatment protocol may make such a procedure unnecessary for most patients. " I can only add that anyone of us who might have this problem should NOT be doing aerobic exercise. Hum, maybe I should stop walking and take aspirin until I can get a test run. I am getting paranoid. But after almost two years of headache this is not fun. a Carnes

Hi a, I did a search in the archives and the most current id that I found was the following: From: " DFW CFIDS <dfwcfids58@...>............via Co-Cure Moderators " Fri Feb 29 13:16:41 2008 So perhaps the DFW CFIDS website or the Co-Cure list. Guest guest
Hi, a. Carol posts on occassion in the chat section link at the www.dfwcfids.org site. Dr Cheney will be doing a presentation on May 22nd in Carlsbad, CA with new insights and up-to-date info on his treatments, including I suspect new stories of surgical patching of PFOs in PWCs. Would you be willing to go to it and take notes for us here from the four hours he will be given to talk at this symposium? I know you have experience in doing this before at CFS conferences and it would good have written documention with the technical info on his visual slides he uses to support his points. Anyway, PFOs have indeed been linked to migraine headaches, brain abcesses from ordinary oral/dental debris/infection getting into the pulminary blood that then cross through the PFO unfiltered into the arterial blood that goes directly to the brain, and bright spots on MRIs of brains of skin divers who have PFOs(just like the bright spots found in some PWCs MRIs). It's an interesting lead Cheney's discovered for those of us with chronic headache as part of our CFS and it's also interesting that recent relapses in PWCs having experienced some success with Valcyte to treat HHV-6a infection are occurring upon these folk reinstituting physical exertion in their lives. Dr Montoya is currently recommending they not exercise for a year following their six months on his protocol, but I don't think he realizes PFOs in these patients may be what's problematic with exercise exertion and that this rather than some re-weakening of their immune system may be the real reason for their relapses. <pj7@...> wrote: > > http://www.ahummingbirdsguide.com/wcheney.htm > > I've been reading more re Cheney's heart issue - an opening between > the two sides of the heart that should have stayed closed since birth > but is open in 80% of cfs patients. Guest guest
Thanks, Marti and , for ideas on this. I will check out the DFW website to see if I can find how how Carol S. is doing. I would love to attend the Carlsbad conference, but we have family obligations back in Pennsylvania that week. Maybe we can find others in Cal. who could attend and write this up. a > > Hi, a. > > Carol posts on occassion in the chat section link at the > www.dfwcfids.org site.
