Guest guest
For those who see Lyme patients with vocal cord abnormalities - seeming paralysis - I want to share a bit of curious experience. My endocrinologist just stopped my Armour thyroid (60 mg and then 90 mg every other day). I have taken Armour thyroid for about 10 years. During that time I developed a gradual warble in my vocal cords while singing in the soprano range. I am a trained singer and sang classical music solos most of my adult life. About 5 years ago I realized I could not sing soprano at all. I am not hoarse, just lost all control over the soprano range with this strange warble. Last week after about 4 days off all thyroid meds I noticed on Sunday that I had no warble and was able to sing completely normally in a soprano range except for lack of practice - like the type of experience a trained swimmer would have after not swimming for several years, but still able to swim. I don't know if this will last, but it does seem related to the Armour thyroid. I found the letter posted on the internet below of a woman who had a similar problem with her singing voice, but she was hypothyroid. Okay, nuf said. Just tuck this away for future reference. I will post again if the strange warble returns. No, I am not back-up for Celine Dion yet. a Carnes Las Vegas, NV HYPERLINK " http://thyroid.about.com/library/oprah/blletter13.htm " http://thyroid.about. com/library/oprah/blletter13.htm I talk and sing for a living, but my upper register became constricted and I acquired a warble that I couldn't control, it was hard to project anymore and my voice would crack at horrific times. I worked around it for a while by singing songs that had very little range. After a while I just stopped singing altogether and became despondent. No virus found in this outgoing message.
