Coagulation tests

I asked my doctor recently if he could run any coagulation tests on me.

The only one he offered was the Hereditary Thrombosis Risk Panel. (I'm

in the UK.) This measures:

Decreased protein C

Decreased protein S

Decreased anti-thrombin

APC resistance/factor V Leiden positivity

Increased prothrombin/prothrombin gene mutation positivity

Does anyone know if this test is worth having? It is expensive - over

£500.

[Moderator: For us, it was -- each of the four with CFIDS had at least one of

them, my first kid (from ex-wife) had several while I had only one defect --

thus I know what her defects are and her medical issues appear to agree with it.

It identify the need to monitor Vit-K for the wife and pointed to which

supplements/drugs are needed to counter the genetic defects.]

Which coagulation test or tests did you have Amy?

I'm going to try and raise some $$$ for the HTRP Panel -- I hope it doesn't

require 18 vials

for just one test???

Thanks,

Dan
