Guest guest
I was just wondering if anyone else out there had a really bad reaction to Whey or soy protein shakes? Before having CFS I drank these shakes no problem, now I get extremely tired, stomach doesn't feel good, effects libido etc. It is kinda weird though because I have had a completely different reaction with vodka like one shot out of the freezer before going to bed. The next day I feel great. other alcohols don't have the same reaction though like beer, wine, other hard alcohols. does anyone know what's going on with these reactions? Guest guest
Maybe its (the vodka) is killing some kind of bacteria in your gut? Bacteria that multiplies as you sleep? OTC whey protein has lots of sugar.. ie. bacteria/yeast food.. (Disregard this theory if your whey is unsweetened..)
Guest guest
Hi! I lived in the US for about 35 years and I came back to my native Poland, the country that invented Wodka in the 16th century. Here is my theory about why you feel better after wodka and not after other alcoholic drinks. I think that beer, wine and other hard liquors have additives that you are reacting to after you consume them. Wodka is much purer, so you are just taking in alcohol and water. There is something in Poland called " Spiritus " . It is much stronger than wodka about 90% to 95% alcohol. People drink it diluted; I was once fooled into drinking it straight and I burned my throat. Just as an aside about my life in my Polish village. There are some drunks here who appear at the largest grocery store right when it opens in the morning to get their choice of alcohol. I think that life under communism was very hard and the weaker personalities turned to alcohol for relief and then in time became addicted. I am always in awe how long these people live and how they function in spite of the amount of wodka and other forms of alcohol they consume. They don't eat right and they don't sleep very well. They don't have regular jobs. Maybe wodka is good for you and I should be joining them in drinking There is a kind of wodka that is used when one has a stomach virus, and yes it cures it quite quickly. I tried it once and I felt it burning my stomach lining, but within a half hour, I felt much better. And the stomach virus was gone as well. Is it possible that we have a lot of bad bacteria and viruses in our intestines and that the wodka is killing them without any mercy? Is this why the local drunks live so long? Guest guest
Dear Doug I have an adverse reaction to whey which is almost certainly due to intolerance of beta casein A1. No problems with A2 milk or cheese. There are no sources of A2 whey powder as yet as the market is taking all the A2 that can be provided as fresh milk. I have a really good reaction to vintage port and single malt Scotch :-) R [Moderator: No response was recieved from Immunepro about source of whey (i.e. cow breds), which suggests that it may be high in A2 also. NZ is where the A1/A2 research is done, and dairy board appears to be moving to all A2, so this is likely the best chance: Metagenics Bio Pure - " BioPure Protein is prepared by utilizing a patented ultrafiltration/diafiltration process that concentrates the whey protein and bioactive immunoglobulins. It is processed at controlled temperatures and pH to prevent the protein from denaturing (becoming inactive). The whey in BioPure Protein is obtained from the milk of a dairy herd in New Zealand, one of only two " pristine herds " worldwide. " It does have a small amount of maltodextrin in it, so no good for whole food diets, but carbs are fairly low at 1g to each 16g protein, so pretty OK for most people. Price and availability unknown. http://www.frot.co.nz/dietnet/basics/protein_whey_2.htm and is available http://www.allyourhealthneeds.com/product944.html etc ]
Guest guest
I have a bad reaction to any whey protein that I try. I can't do raw milk either. Alcohol can't be tolerated by me because it is too acidic! I can't do chocolate either because of acid. joyce kaye > > I was just wondering if anyone else out there had a really bad > reaction to Whey or soy protein shakes?
