Guest guest
Dear Forum, This is one of the issues which we much handle very carefully or it will burst out anytime.I am really shocked to hear the fact about discrimination of PLWHAs and IDUs. See in other hand some of the NGOs tell the world that they have done this, they have done that, they are expert, they are the only perfect people for the issue. It is high time that people must realise that this is a serious issue, to give the forum an example in our case -Social Awareness Service Organisation(SASO) an users organisation working in this feild of drug and AIDS for a decade in Manipur has a case when people (Agency) while visiting Imphal drop to our place and spend some time and it seems like they like the way we work, then the next day one of the person from the team(Agency) suprisingly ask one of our team if we were all ex-injecting drug users, while enquiring we are shock to hear that the NGO who guide the team (Agency) convienced them not to support us that we might gone relapse and the money will be lost. This is the issue for these kind of vested interest people think that NGO/Self help group like us are a threat to their interest. Shocked to hear When the whole world is talking against stigma and discrimination and when we all are observing world AIDS day under the same theme and when we all started implementing the GIPA Concept! Lastly, requesting the Agencies who is supporting these NGOs and the SHGs to intervene for we as an users organisation feel it is too much at this stage and we don't want to start everything from day-1. Thanking you Best regards, L.Birendrajit Singh General Secretary Social Awareness Service Organisation(SASO) Khwai Lalambung Makhong RIMS.Road(S) Imphal-1,Manipur (India) e-mail: <lbirendrajit@...>
Guest guest
[Moderators note follows the posting] Dear Forum, Sometime I have some problem of getting mail or sending mail. Anyway I have been following mail regarding Marginalisation and Discrimaination on a group. These people always time face lots of problem and this is not the first of is kind I supposed. That is another reason whenever I wrote I want the marginalised groups to be at the decission making body. They are all use as a guinea pig by Agencies, NGOs and Individual for any purpose. But its worth if we sincerely do for the genuine course. What is RRTC and what is their actual work and who initiate it ?? Because we never see any change in the society and nothing is there for any kind information and they are not friendly with the drug users or +ve people. It is totally useless to have RRTC or rather should I say the persons who is handling it. Maybe they might have conduct few improper training I mean out dated training useless for NGOs or service providers. I observe it as a political plateform (Office) not as a service provider or information centre for Drug users,PLHAs, for families or genaral community. The deep rooted habit is that as soon as they got information on visiters or consern related teams coming they call in Drug users or Recovering Users for a tea with some TA and they tell the world what they are or who they are or why they are. But one good point in them is that they have a very big mouth and some adequate idea for conviencing the Agencies. There is a saying among the Users and PLHAs group that if anybody want to see documents go to Galaxy/RRTC/ISD and if anybody want to see some actual work than go to NGOs run by Ex-Users. Really these people know how to write! I am not exagerating things but the facts about these people only. I don't have a vedeo tape with me but SEX and LIES are there. Finally, I request the forum or the people who can think of the people to please intervene otherwise bloodshed might occurs. Thanking you Yours Sincerely, Kh.Manihar E-mail: <khomanihar@...> Moderators note: Quite understandably the posting on Marginalisation and discrimination of PLWHAs by AIDS NGOs in Manipur has touched few raw nerves. We have received quite a few messages as a response to this issue. However, we are unable to post all those. Pleased remember, this FORUM is committed to provide a voice for people who have a genuine grievance, but keep the language of your posting with in the norms of civility. Thanks.
