He says not to scan your body for symptoms. I would say that the difference is between listening to your body (good) but not asking it how it's doing (bad). Gupta does tell you to pace yourself but to make the pacing decision without anxiety or frustration. Does it involve exercise? Not necessarily. He does prefer the techniques to be done physically but says it's not necessary if you can't. Sue
Guest guest
Guptas program is not about ignoring symptoms at all - that implies trying to push through them - which according to his ideas - completely reignites the problem. The whole of idea of trying to avoid or get away from the problem - magnifies it. My understanding of Gupta is that the process is designed to you bring to a place of calmness and increasing health - at which point you make the decision whether you should or should not be more active. During my experience with Gupta I have reduced my activity levels quite a bit. Why because I'm not ignoring what my body is telling me anymore. Interesting two researchers I spoke to both said most CFS patients are doing too much. The program does not involve prescriptions or exercise or indeed any other activity; in the process you decide what levels of activity are suitable for you based on your current state of health.
