International Training Programme On PLANNING FOR CARE AND SUPPORT OF PEOPLE

LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS at Bangalore. March 22-26, 2004

OBJECTIVES: The broad objective of this training programme is to strengthen

technical and managerial capabilities of participants in planning and

implementation of care and support programme for people living with HIV/AIDS

(PLHA) and their families. More specifically, it will focus on;

• Situation analysis to understand the care and support needs (health, economic,

social) of PLHA and their families.

• Comprehensive HIV/AIDS care .

• Ethical issues in care and support of people living with HIV/AIDS.

• Hospital/ clinical based care of HIV/AIDS

• Home and community based care of PLHA.

• Counselling.

• Planning for care and support or PLHA.

• Monitoring and evaluation of care and support programme for PLHA.

PARTICIPANTS: The programme is designed for planners, programme managers and

researchers in organisations, institutions and NGOs involved in the management

of HIV/AIDS at provincial and national levels. The number of participants is

restricted to 25.

FEE: The course fee will be Rs.12,000/- for Indian participants and US $600/-

for international participants. This covers charges for board and lodging and

course material. The participants/sponsoring agencies will have to bear the

travel expenses to and from New Delhi.
