SAN ANTONIO -- City inspectors are investigating a north side

apartment complex for possible code violations as residents begin a

petition to return their fired manager back to the job.

A sink is covered with dry sewage at one of the units at the

Brittany Apartments.

The California-based company that owns the Brittany Apartments fired

a Larch on Tuesday, one month after she was hired to help clean

up living conditions.

Apartment residents said Larch was trying to address their concerns,

which include mold, sewage and rodent problems.

Larch said some progress was made, but said her former employer

refused to work with tenants.

" They wanted me to do things that were against Texas law and I can't

do that -- like cut off people's utilities, " said Larch.

The owner of the Brittany Apartments refused a request to talk to

KSAT-12 News.

" I think it's an atrocity, " said resident Georgia Klier. " She's the

only decent apartment manager that we've had. "

Residents have started to circulate a petition asking the owner to

reinstate Larch.

Larch said she hopes her former tenants get the help the need.

" They're the ones that are going to suffer. My hands are tied, " she

said.

Inspectors for the San Housing Authority and for the city

said they were investigating the Brittany Apartments for possible

code violations.
