Guest guest
I've been reading up on Magnesium deficiency.... Has anybody tried the Magnesium Oil, gel, or flakes? I'm looking at 2 different websites that seem to have Magnesium products from the same source. #1) ANCIENT MINERALS MAGNESIUM FLAKES are ultra-pure, highly-concentrated crystals of magnesium chloride (MgCl2) sourced from the ancient Zechstein seabed in Europe. These magnesium flakes are extremely pure because the seabed lies 1,600 to 2,000 meters beneath the surface of the earth, where it has been protected for 250 million years. The flakes provide high levels of magnesium (47% magnesium chloride) and trace elements from ultra-pure, unpolluted deposits found in this ancient seabed. These extremely pure magnesium flakes offer very low sodium content. Magnesium flakes are especially beneficial when used in baths or footbaths. They are a very cost-effective means to raise levels magnesium in the body via transdermal application. http://integratedhealth.com/shop/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=149 #2 DermaMag Magnesium Content Each ounce of DermaMag magnesium oil contains approximately 12 grams of magnesium chloride, which is equivalent to 3 grams of elemental magnesium. When determining the correct dose to use, it is elemental magnesium that is important. As a general guide when using a DermaMag spray bottle, each spray equals approximately 12 milligrams of elemental magnesium. So to apply 100 milligrams of magnesium you should use 8 sprays. As an example, applying 8 sprays (100mg) to each arm and each leg (32 sprays in total) will deliver 400 mg of elemental magnesium onto your skin. http://www.magnesiumdirect.com/products.aspx (DermaMag) One of them seems to state clearly how much Magnesium you get per dose (DermaMag), but I can't find the equivalent info for the other companies product.... Can anybody tell me if they seem to be selling the same strength products? Or, which is the best value for my money? Thanks. Kendra [Moderator: First, mixing your own solution of magnessium chloride should be just as effective and considerably cheaper... for example $7.50 buys you 518mg x 100 = 51 grams. Second issue it whether Transdermal (through the skin) is actually more or LESS effective in reality. Bathing in it is documented: " Magnesium salts are known to bind water, influence epidermal proliferation and differentiation, and enhance permeability barrier repair. " PMID: 15689218 but that far more (10000x) more exposure than applying a spray. Anyone can find some hard evidence of it's relative effectiveness?]
