-hhmmm, not sure I understand this connection but

can any of these herbs and supplements be useful for our non varicose

vein coagulation concerns?

[Moderator: To keep to my goal of EMPOWERING THE GROUP to do their own research

and discovery, how I would answer this is simple:

1) Take the ingredient (by common and/or scientific name)

2) Go to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez

Enter just the ingredient, see how many hits happen, if just a few ( < 200?)

browse them:

Example:

* Sophora japonica: 160 hits

- Anti-platelet effects of flavonoids and flavonoid-glycosides from Sophora

japonica. PMID: 18704331 which found " the isolation of four flavonoids and six

flavonoid-glycosides: biochanin A (1), irisolidone (2), genistein (3), sissotrin

(4), sophorabioside (5), genistin (6), tectoridin (7), apigenin (8), quercitrin

(9), and rutin (10). " -- Each of these could also be chased down...

" ompound 2 was an approximately 22-40 fold stronger inhibitor than ASA (aspirin)

on AA and U46619 induced aggregation "

- the anti-inflammatory action of sophoricoside, an isoflavone glycoside

isolated from immature fruits of Sophora japonica L. (Leguminosae), has been

demonstrated. When administered orally at > 100 mg/kg or injected intravenously

at > 10 mg/kg, sophoricoside showed significant reduction of carrageenin-induced

paw edema in mice. Sophoricoside has been identified as a selective inhibitor of

cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 activity with an IC50 value of 3.3 microM.

PMID: 12802736

You may find some other interesting items, like " Lead and cadmium in leaves of

deciduous trees in Beijing, China: " PMID: 16797111

' Sophora japonica and Catalpa speciosa. P. tomentosa had the highest ratios

between leaf and soil Cd (0.848), followed by S. japonica (0.536), ..... Ginko

biloba (0.103) ...' which means that origin of herbs is an important factor.

It there are a lot of hits, then add in 'coagulation' and/or 'inflammatory'

and/or fibrosis' to reduce the number...

So the answer is YES --- whether they are cost effective (grape seed extract is)

is another question, and determining effective dosages are questions that are

also good to answer....]

veins.com/hypercoagulable.html - the URL says it all! In my case,

varicose-vein in the family tree is the branch that probably gave me

the chronic infection (causing hypercoagulation) -- many chronic

infections can be passed down in families -- the infection and the body

have a degree of mutual tolerance]
