Dear forum,

The issues of stigma and discrimination have accompanied the epidemic of

HIV/AIDS since we came to know about it. I appreciate and acknowledge the

efforts of the Government, NGOs and self help groups of PLWHA and ex drug users

in reducing stigma and discrimination against PLWHA and ex drug users in

Manipur.

All of them should be given equal credit for their efforts. But such an n

unfortunate act by an NGO has spoiled the image of all the NGOs in Manipur

particularly of those who are working in the field of HIV/AIDS and drug abuse.

This not an issue of accusation and pampering and using the group against

someone as mentioned by my friend Marak, but this is an issue of fact and

eeality. If I’m not wrong this is the same NGO (GC) against which many PLWHA

groups and other NGOs protested for wrong doings during formulation of State

Drug Policy in this same forum.

If this controversial NGO is innocent, they instead of keeping mumb should also

express their viewpoints.
