Dear Friends,

We take this opportunity to share yet another good news with you. Udaan was

selected for a grant award by Avert Society-USAID.

The grant for Drop-In-Centre “GHAR” in Mumbai (Ghatkopar), for People Living

with HIV/AIDS - was awarded by Mr. Blake, Charge D’Affiars & Acting

Ambassador from USA to India. This is the first ever Drop-In-Centre for People

Living with HIV/AIDS in Mumbai. The grant was received by Vijay Nair, Vice

President on behalf of Udaan+.

Mr. Blake, while addressing the audience and group of Journalists -

congratulated Udaan for the hard work it has been doing for People Living with

HIV/AIDS for years in his speech, in an official function that concluded in

Dharavi, Mumbai, on 11th December 2003. Mr. Mahesh Jadhav, garlanded Mr. Angus

, Consul General, US Embassy (Mumbai) and Ms. Ujwala, Head of Soudamini

Network gave momentos to both Mr. Blake and Mr. Angus . The

function concluded with a vote of thanks from Avert Society.

The Panchis & Soudaminis of Udaan thank Dr. Sanjay Sawant (MSACS), Ms.

Synnet & Mr. Sampat Kumar of USAID, all the staff members of Avert Society and

advisors of Udaan+ for extending their help to us from time to time. We also

thank SHED organization, who provided the venue for this function to take place.
