Guest guest
I joined this group to get information on mold, effects and remedies and was hoping to find a supportive community that shared information. From what I have read so far there are people on this list struggling for their lives, battling health issues every day of their life - myself included. A call to join a political group (moveon) seems to me to be incredibly insensitive. It's like asking brain cancer chemo patient to join a save-the-whales rally. I'm sorry - but I find this Moveon sponsored inappropriate and actually offensive. Angelika [] Join our urgent petition MOVEON.ORG Supreme Court: Petition to Stop Corporate Lawyer Dear MoveOn member, In the past weeks, Republicans and Democrats have called on President Bush to nominate a moderate for the Supreme Court-someone who would honor the legacy of independent Justice Day O'Connor. But last night, President Bush nominated Judge , a far-right lawyer and corporate lobbyist, to fill her post on the Supreme Court. We've got to stop . He opposed clean air rules and worked to help coal companies strip-mine mountaintops. He worked with Ken Starr (yes, that Ken Starr), and tried to keep Congress from defending the Voting Rights Act. He wrote that Roe v. Wade should be " overruled, " and as a lawyer argued (and won) the case that stopped some doctors from even discussing abortion. Join our urgent petition to let our senators know we expect them to oppose right now at: http://political.moveon.org/roberts/?id=5817-5733985- UVVUHIH4uyg8C3QXF8.wuQ & t=3 This is one of the most important domestic fights of President Bush's career. We can win-Americans overwhelmingly want a moderate judge. But to win, we need to get the word out early that is out of the mainstream. After you've signed, please send this message on to your friends and colleagues. We need to fight back against the misinformation that the Bush administration is putting out. has little experience as a judge-he was only appointed in 2003. But he's got a lot of experience as a corporate lobbyist and lawyer, consistently favoring wealthy corporations over regular Americans. Here's a list of some of the things that make the wrong pick for the Supreme Court: Wrong on environmental protection: appears to want to limit the scope of the Endangered Species Act, and in papers he wrote while in law school he supported far-right legal theories about " takings " which would make it almost impossible for the government to enforce most environmental legislation. Wrong on civil rights: worked to keep Congress from defending parts of the Voting Rights Act. Wrong on human rights: As a appeals court judge, ruled that the Geneva Convention doesn't apply to some prisoners of war. Wrong on our right to religious freedom: argued that schools should be able to impose religious speech on attendees. Wrong on women's rights: wrote that " Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided and should be overruled. " He also weighed in on behalf of Operation Rescue, a violent anti-abortion group, in a federal case. President Bush could have chosen many fair-minded and independent jurists to replace Day O'Connor. Instead, he chose a corporate partisan loved by Bush's right-wing base but out of step with the rest of the country. Tell your senators they need to stop now, at: http://political.moveon.org/roberts/?id=5817-5733985- UVVUHIH4uyg8C3QXF8.wuQ & t=4 We'll be in touch soon about next steps. For now, please help us gather as many voices as possible to keep the Supreme Court fair. And thanks for everything you're doing. Guest guest
It was sent to me and I thought this person going against environmental issues was important. I am not endorsing any politicial group or asking anyone to join it. But isn't one of the main problems we have to do with political agenda's and big industry? I am very much aware of what this stuff is capable of doing to lives, at least the ones that are still here and how this affects everyone around us firsthand. The ones that are no longer here because they passed away from mold, ones that I was personally in touch with that no longer have a voice. I do my best, I am not perfect. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I guess questioning the qualifications of someone who will not back environmental issues is really not important. > I joined this group to get information on mold, effects and remedies and was > hoping to find a supportive community that shared information. Guest guest
I second that. Though there is a lot more our governing bodies could do to assist mold victims and help stop the rapid spread of mold contamination, there is no 1 person who is completely responsible for it. MoveOn.org is an organization with one motivation - and helping mold victims is certainly not one of them. Praying on the emotions of mold victims to enlist more people to join their cause is sad. moldhelp@... wrote: I joined this group to get information on mold, effects and remedies and was hoping to find a supportive community that shared information. Guest guest
Re: petition Personally I think posts regarding things going on in Washington extremely more critical than most people seem to believe and we should be more interested and involved. Maybe if we were, we wouldn't have this problem we are faced with now. Special interests have kept mold problem off the table and that has to do with Washington and local governments too. The fact that many people think these things are not important is why we have government dominated by big business rather than the public's good. If it affects health and environmental, I think topic is appropriate here. No political party was endorsed. It was just one post. The activity was signing your name. My experience with objections in group, that one objection generates a tremendous amount of uninteresting and argumentative posts, *like this one, so better to tolerate an objectionable post, especially if it is one or a few. I hope to offend noone. ----- Original Message ----- From: " tigerpaw2c " <tigerpaw2C@...> > It was sent to me and I thought this person going against > environmental issues was important. Guest guest
I am a mold victim and I have been helping other mold victims for the last 9 years. I DID NOT ask the people on this board to join any organization. AGAIN, I apologize for offending anyone. I guess I was wrong with my way of thinking in that what happens in the environment and big industry will eventually lead to more casualties. MSC people have a hard enough time with polluants in the environment (most of this caused by there mold exposure)now some of them are having a hard time with MANY of the Clean Air Laws overturned, naturally this leads to more contaminants. I can not put my wife in a plastic bubble anymore than she is now. Unfortunately for her the outside air is becoming as " deadly " as the indoor environment that got her gravely ill. This was my ONLY motive. I have dealt with this issue (mold) personnally, through the news, and yes even contacting politicians (so I guess that makes me political). Perhaps someone who is just now experiencing these hardships can give me a better indepth scenario as to what recourse we have than to help keep what little environmental laws we now have in place. I am open to all suggestions. Many of us would like to know what we can do to inform the public and our politicians more than what we have. There are alot of people who complain, but in reality very few actually are doing anything to stop this nightmare from continuing. Perhaps someone would like to step into my shoes during one of the many phone calls I receive daily from a parent whose children are gravely ill (and yes a couple have already lost a child) crying to me and asking for help or where to turn since they were unable to receive help from any governmental agency. I have been doing this nonstop now for many years, never asking for a dime (even though I might have been down to my last one). This is a full time job 24/7 holidays included, trying to bring information out to the public and assisting as best I can. If anyone thinks this is ALL an agenda for me, then YES they are correct. MY AGENDA IS STOPPING MORE PEOPLE FROM GETTING SICK FROM MOLD AND THE ONES THAT ARE GRAVELY ILL FROM DYING FROM THIS. Guest guest
To all, KC has helped like unlike anyone else with his important information on Mold. If I had never found this Web site, I do not believe I would be alive right now. I am struggling to live and thank God for people like KC, Doug Haney and Dr.Shoemaker and of course the others that have been affected by Mold and answered my E-Mails. I think it is very important for ALL of us to get this information out to the public the best way we can. If anyone finds this Web site offensive, then maybe you should go back to reading Fiction or Romance novels. This is NOT Fiction...it is real and people are dying and it needs to get out. I hope that you find some help if you are sick but don't slam others who are trying to get the message out. Who knows.....it might even end up helping you and others like you. God Bless you KC and keep up the Great work you are doing, without getting paid a " dime " . Guest guest
KC, If you hadn't posted the moveon.org post that you did, I probably wouldn't have been aware of nominee 's stance on environmental issues; an issue that has become increasingly important to me. Guest guest
I agree that it was timely, helpful and relevant. I went to the site immediately and wrote to my senators. We do need to be political if we are ever going to get people to take notice of mold and write laws to protect us and the environment. Signed: Get Rid of Mold > KC, > > If you hadn't posted the moveon.org post that you did, I probably wouldn't have been aware of nominee 's stance on environmental issues; an issue that has become increasingly important to me. I applaud you for making me aware. Knowledge is power. > > Thanks, > > CJ
Guest guest
Agree, we all owe KC a major round of thanks and appreciation for being so dedicated to this problem and its solutions. (And he knows I mean that from the bottom of my heart!) However. (And it's a big HOWEVER.) Mold doesn't have a political party, and couldn't care less what color your money or your state is. I'm not sure what you meant when you said, " If anyone finds this Web site offensive, then maybe you should go back to reading Fiction or Romance novels. " Did you mean ? Because...certainly not - although clearly can and does contain offensive material from time to time. If you meant moveon.org, that's a whole other thing. I'm not sure exactly who you intended to insult. Was it members who might find some part of content offensive, or was it people who find moveon.org offensive? Still, if you feel that moveon.org is really there to help, perhaps you could write and ask them to get up a petition to get the government to take notice of our problems with mold and do something real about it - like, maybe quit funding phony studies and continuously claiming they still " don't know enough " ? Quit allowing government functionaries to whore for " study " funds to " see if there's really a problem " ? Quit sending federal funds to schools that are poisoning children? Quit sending federal funds to hospitals and public housing projects that are poisoning people? Quit allowing federal employees at HHS, FDA, CDC, and NIH to take corporate money while claiming to do non-biased government-funded research? Quit screwing over federal employees (both civil and military) when they are exposed to mold toxins on the job? Because...I would sign that. I'm pretty sure a lot of people here would sign that. Guest guest
It is absolutely important to find out how our politicians stand on environmental issues ! I just think moveon has their own agenda and not always the best one. Guest guest
The post on environmental issues was not offensive - the fact that it was tied to a specific POLITICAL MOVEMENT that has nothing to do with mold is offensive. Guest guest
Simply stated...anyone that can get the Gov.or Public aware of what is happening to us all that are very sick with no help, are doing a Great job!! Did not mean to insult anyone at Sickbuilding at all. Sometimes people can be closed minded and it takes a little push to get then to understand. Like I said, KC does an excellent job of getting that information out. Sure, there are some things that I don't understand......just " hit " delete. :-) Works for me! Peace, Marcie SERENA EDWARDS <pushcrash@...> wrote: Agree, we all owe KC a major round of thanks and appreciation for being so dedicated to this problem and its solutions.
