Guest guest
Gil, Filtrete filters is a good idea for Barbara E. I use them here. Barbara E, you can get 3M Filtrete brand filter FABRIC at Home Depot. It isn't a popular item and I haven't seen it at Lowes or other hardware stores but they may order it for you. This is folded fabric filter material that is MRV 11 I believe. It is used to make your own filter or cut to measure for sizes not available ready made. You can cut pieces of this and cover all your vents. I only use it to cover my cold air returns to keep my HVAC system clean. However if the cleanliness of your HVAC system is in doubt and you can't do anything about it, cover the vents also coming into your apartment. Change them when they look like they are dirty. If you can get them on vents in a secure enough way that they wouldn't come off when vacuumed, they can be vaccumed and used alot longer. After you have installed the vents, clean everything in the apt and get rid of soft things that can't be cleaned, throw it away and buy new replacements for those. Perhaps you can afford a air purifier too? Try www.natlallergy.com for list of those. If you can, get one large enough for whole apt. If that is too expensive, get a good one for your bedroom only. During the day, keep the door to your bedroom closed to keep air clean. Then at least you will spend 1/3 of your day in clean air, which helps alot. ----- Original Message ----- From: " Gil Vice " <gilvice@...> > If you are using good filters on your central air, such as 3M Filtrete, > your system should not pick up mold and blow it around.
