Guest guest
I was okay on the antivirals. I took 1 mg three times daily, hear he suggests higher doses now for some. Sorry they don't work for you. I also took Zantac to buffer the effects on the stomach (his prescription of this also). Have you tried natural antivirals (lysine, oil of oregano, grapefruit seed extract, etc.)? I do a low dose of acyclovir (generic for Valtrex) when I get sore throat and glands, but I have no health insurance so don't get lots. I take 3000 mg of l-lysine daily (1500 am and 1500 pm) and notice a difference when I forget. I take a lot of natural stuff all the time and notice when I forget or don't feel like taking them (ginger capsules, turmeric, Recuperation from Spain which is calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium, Ultra-Cal Night by Source Naturals, 3 mg melatonin to sleep, malic acid, Vit E, Vit D, Vit C, quercetin, betacarotene, lysine, CMO, MSM, glucosamine, etc.). I just came down with a sore throat and headache tonight, it's going around the school where I work and we've had 16 + kids sick every day this week. I remember when I started the treatment in 2003 I felt crummy for the first six months of treatment, but then the seventh month I got more done around the house than I had in two years prior. Remember it takes three months on anything new to really get the benefit, so if you start a supplement and you aren't really bad, either start with a lower dose and slowly up it. I know lots of people who have to take minimal doses of things because of how it affects them. Can you take vitamin C? Here we like Emergen-C sachet packets that you buy by the box of about 30 packets. I just added Super Orange to hot Throat Coat tea tonight and it was yummy, much better than Thera-Flu. I buy Raspberry, Cranberry-Pomegranate, Raspberry, Super Orange and Tangerine. It's around $10.00 for a box. 1-2 packets in a small amount of juice or water, or even hot or in tea, let it fizz, then drink. It gives a lot of other vitamins and tons more energy. Oh, I also take blue-green spirulina for energy and that really helps, plus frequent naps (Dr. Dantini says we HAVE to rest, so you have doctor's permission to nap). Remember to not take on more than you can handle ~ it's okay if it doesn't get done, or someone else will do it. I learned to say NO, or if I couldn't make up my mind to say yes or no, the answer was NO!!! Be good to yourself, you have to heal. I also had to watch my food allergies as they aggravate health issues or prevent me from getting/staying well. Hope you find some answers and get better. in La Selva Beach CA On 2/29/2012 5:03 PM, Joy wrote: > > Hi - > Out of curiosity, how did you do on the antivirals? Guest guest
The generic for Valtrex is valacyclovir, the generic for Zovirax is acyclovir. Are you on acyclovir or valacyclovir? Guest guest
I have spoken to the Alacer corporation about Emergen C products. You cannot do hot water with the packets...... it's been awhile..... but I  believe they said  around 90 degrees. But I do remember they said not to do HOT water.  It invalidates the effectiveness of the product. Kathleen/. Re: Re: Dr. Dantini -  I was okay on the antivirals. Guest guest
My mistake, good catch Steve, I am taking valacyclovir 500 mg tabs, as needed. If my glands are swollen or sore, I take 500 mg twice daily for a couple of days. When I was working with Dr. Dantini I was taking 1 gm Valtrex three times daily. I think I was on this dose for at least a year, then gradually eased up. Guest guest
Good to know Kathleen. Thanks for the help. The way our brains work, we all have to help each other.
