Guest guest
Thanks for your report " from the front lines " . I'm glad you are making progress. It's always helpful to know what has helped someone else. I'm interested in your comment about the GAP diet lining up with methylation issues. I will have to look into that diet. Guest guest
Hi Anne, Thank you for sharing all of this and saying that you will report all progress, it will be very helpful. Can i just clarify about the methylation aspect. Are you saying that from your reading you mean the methylation cycle is not working due to poor gut function and that if you repair the gut function the methylation will start to improve too? Or are you saying the methylation causes the poor gut function? Sorry am a bit unclear. Anyway, iwish you all the best of luck on this approach. The SCD diet is not an easy one so hope it goes ok. I'd be interested to know how you don't get too hungry on it. Best wishes bel > > I collapsed with CFS in 2000. It took me 2 years to figure out what was going on, or to put a name to it. Guest guest
Hi Anne I totally agree with you, and yes my path to recovery has been very similar when I tried a comprehensive supplement and detox regime, that was also the foundation I started to build my recovery on. Then doing my methylation genetics and adding basic methylation sups really helped but all these sups are only managing this situation, I have found that the toxins depleting glutathione are coming from the bowel. GAPS & SCD I believe are definitely the way to go but this is just part of it, if your gut flora is really damaged and there is a lot of inflammation then the good flora do not adhere and set up home. This is the problem I have encountered and in the GAPS book Dr Natasha does say that probiotic supplements do not adhere, they are only transitory, you also need to heal the gut walls. This is proving to be the tricky part. Tests show that I don't have leaky gut any more but still have malabsorption. New research just out also states that in autistic children the epithilial cells are different than non autistic children – http://mbio.asm.org/content/3/1/e00261-11.full?sid=397c05fd-ebe8-41d6-a184-3be96\ 537d74a So if your gut flora is decimated as mine is from years and years of antibiotics then the supplements don't do anything once you stop them. Hence I have gone for donor stool infusion which was performed by a gastroenterologist here in Syd Aut. (There is a centre in the US now doing donor stool infusion) (I believe the enormous amount of toxins coming from the bowel if not started the methylation cycle block are what are keeping me in the glutathione depleted state). But even after two weeks of daily infussion within a couple of months my stool tests showed still no good flora and an overgrowth of the undesirable, which I already knew as all my symptoms were coming back. But when I did the antibiotics and biofilm treatment then donor stool infusion it turned my life around and convinced me that that is the root of my illness, just as you are starting to realise. I have been taught how to do it at home and have a donor that has been screened both stool and blood and given approval as a donor. When I do the infusions my energy and cognitive ability improve markedly. They don't know why the flora is not adhering, they still don't have all the answers. But I believe the above article is now starting to identify it is not just the luminal contents but also what is happening and what is in epithilial cells. The have also found that EBV resides in the epithelial cells http://mbio.asm.org/content/3/1/e00290-11 I have EBV active maybe this is why my gut is not allowing the good flora to imbed and establish themselves in my bowel despite the massive amounts of probiotics from donor stool. I am about to see a Dr in Austria where I am going to be taught how to make MAF 314 and purchase 6 months worth. This is still in the trial stages but they are finding it is reducing the inflammation in the gut wall and assisting the immune system to do its work and kill bacteria. I am also on GcMaf weekly injections. Hopefully these two will enable my immune system to control and suppress EBV and other bacteria in my bowel. Maybe then my immune system will heal and will allow good gut flora to flourish from donor stool, when that happens then I might be able to reduce my supplements considerably because my gut and gut flora will be doing the job of absorbing nutrients that they are supposed to do and the amount of toxins will be considerably less therefore allowing my methylation to work effectively and reducing my need for supps. Fingers crossed but I am committed to curing my cfs and it requires a multi layered approach, a lot of work and money. > > I collapsed with CFS in 2000.
