People can be HIV positive for years and not have AIDS. An AIDS diagnosis is generally given when the person gets a secondary infection and then progresses to AIDS. In other words, it can look like various viral, bacterial, protozoal, etc., infections, and it is the secondary trigger that makes the illness apparent. Peggy <The world has moved on since this was written, some of the gaps have been filled including the Dubbo study which showed that CFS could be triggered by any insult, viral, bacterial or protozoan.
