Guest guest
I have a question for Rich Van K. I've been taking Twin Labs Betaine HCl for hypochloridia. However, when I checked the ingredients, they were listed as betaine and hydrochloride. Hydrochloride is a salt commonly added to medications to increase absorption. This means Betaine HCl is not an acid, and certainly isn't hydrochloric acid (which would eat its way right through the capsule). Although the addition of HCl would certainly increase the absorption rate of the betaine, I don't see how it could possibly increase stomach acid. Yet, there are so many claims that this supplement increases hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Are these claims all false? If not, how does betaine HCl actually work? a in Massachusetts
