Guest guest
Yes, GWS is the key to uncovering CFS because what you have in GWS are non-blood related healthy soldiers who contracted GWS in one area. Approximately 30-40% of our returning US soldiers from the 1991 persian gulf war contracted GWS. GWS is an epidemic while CFS is mainly endemic. Studying the tens of thousands of GWS vets is a much better and accurate sample of GWS/CFS patients than any other group. i believe the DoD has found the cause(s) for GWS, but still no real treatment for it nor a cure. Unfortunately, the pathophysiology(disease process) of GWS/CFS still have not been uncovered. Guest guest
there is a paper coming out soon about CFS and the gut.....wonder if extreme stress or infection can screw up the gut flora so badly that it causes CFS? ________________________________ From: Larry <saleenm@...> Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2012 6:38:02 PM Subject: Re: Gulf War Syndrome & CFS Â Yes, GWS is the key to uncovering CFS because what you have in GWS are non-blood related healthy soldiers who contracted GWS in one area. Guest guest
I agree with your statement about GWS. From what I can assess, the only two objectively-defined subsets of CFS are: 1) Non-HIV AIDS (1st case in 1992; also Chapter 33 of Osler's Web) & 2) Gulf War Syndrome (1st cases shortly after 1990-91) I believe that if the entire CFS paradigm spent its time focused on, researching, and understanding these two *mostly censored* objective subsets (rather than discounting them as too small/irrelevant to bother with), the answer(s) to the entire paradigm would be unearthed. I chose not to include the Reno outbreak, because I don't think that there is much left to it. Using an great Kierkegaard quote I recently heard, " Life can only be understood backwards..., " if people try to understand CFS backwards (now) they will make more progress living it forward. My unique, inverted perspective on CFS is because I've had the bittersweet *luxury* of living it in reverse, as I started out HIV+ (which turned out to be false positives). My 1st letter (written in 2004): http://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SideEffects/Q160149.html I recommend to everyone joining a " Gulf War Syndrome " forum and an " AIDS Dissident " group. There are several that already exist, and they are chuck full of smart people. There are a lot of smart and passionate people here, it is for that reason that I believe CFS research can become exponentially more progressive. www.cfsstraighttalk.blogspot.com > > From: lemonfoundation <lemonfoundation@...> > Subject: Gulf War Syndrome & CFS > > Date: Saturday, May 26, 2012, 10:48 PM >
