Barb et al.

Just remember that any alcohol used " straight " for cleaning is flammable. Be

very cautious, avoid spraying if possible.

Vapors from an evaporating bucket of pure alcohol are denser than air, can

travel across a table top or floor, and be ignited by a spark or remote flame

source, such as a water heater or stove pilot light. (I used to do a

demonstration of this on my desktop when I taught chemistry.)

Although many mycotoxins are soluble in pure alcohol, at the water dilution you

are describing, the solution is unlikely to dissolve much.

Perhaps normal washing with detergent, which also solubilizes some mycotoxins,

would be safer and equally effective.

I can testify to normal washing with detergents doing nothing for

mycotoxins, but as I have stated before, have had small sucesses with

washing with de-natured alcohol and vulpex soap- which is soluable in

alcohol

Yes, denatured alcohol is in the hardware store. Borax I have heard

is good for mold, but did nothing for mycotaxins.

Barb and all. Just a friendly warning that denatured alcohol, rubbing

alcohol and other products to decontaminate our " things " are potentially

toxic to our health and those around us. I'm MCS and I couldn't tolerate

these products. Nor would I use them around my " normal " husband or pets.

Anything that would contain the more toxic molds and mycotoxins I would not

even attempt to clean in my own home for obvious reasons; however to clean

the tiles in my shower, the brick outside my home, lawn furniture, etc I've

been using for some time with excellent results (no reactions) TSP and

sodium percarbonate. I'm also using 100% pure essential oils in a diffuser

in my home as a preventative. White vinegar combined with hydrogen peroxide

as Barb mentioned in the shower is also effective and that though does need

to be followed up with a good scrubbing which could include the TSP and

sodium percarbonate and then a sealer applied.

TSP and sodium percarbonate I use to wash clothes; especially when heavily

soiled from digging in my garden or having visited moldy establishments like

old fashion nurseries, etc. I double rinse and the clothes seem clean.

Just my thoughts and uses,

Rosie
