All of us that can consume dairy have tried or use the best quality whey

protein. Well there is a lawsuit against Ori Hofmekler-Defense Nutrition, a

Mercola supplier. Its about false 100% grass-fed, hormone-tretment-free and

amino acid content claims made for years on their whey products. This is

according to a detailed comment in May at this Chicago Mag article on Mercola.

For years most of the protein products at Mercola have been made with Defense

Nutrition whey. I think he still sells Pro-Optimal. That one had Well Wisdom's

Proserum in it. It will be interesting to see how Mercola handles inquiry on

this one.

That's sad to see but this happens all the time with supplements because there

is absolutely ZERO regulation to supplements. you can fill pills with sugar and

sell it as anything you like. The supplements industry is self regulating and

you should trust only those companies with the highest reputation and

quality(those that passed 3rd party testing over and over again.) In general,

stay away from no-brand and low cost supplements that have never been 3rd party

tested.

Late to the show but I just saw this. I always look for the GMP

certification on the label. Have never had a problem with a supplement that

contained this certification.

I did notice that Mercola's B-12 spray has the cheap form of B-12. Of

course, I noticed it after I bought it. Waste of money that was.

GMP, Good Manufacturing Practice can insure the ingredients used in production

of packaged product are recorded and traceable for safety and it verifies the

production processes in the packaging plant. The packager's GMP has no oversight

or knowledge of how the actual ingredient is produced or its source history.

It would not prevent false claims being made about ingredients. Such as

grass-fed or hormone-treatment-free.

Mercola and Defense Nutrition use claims that are attractive to discerning

consumers. If they are false claims they get away with it because consumers

believe them and do not demand verification.

It behooves you to choose reputable companies and get written verification from

them on the products you use.
