Guest guest
I have taken several different brands over the years and the key really is that they are the refrigerated kind because that has live organisms rather than dried and that they have at least 6 strains. I dont get the ones designed just for digestion because i get systemic overgrowth so want the more broad spectrum product. Right now I am using the Jarrow Original 6 strain which I found at Whole Foods. Most brands recommend one capsule three times a day with meals. To start I take 4 times the recommended dose (4 capsules with each meal) then when my symptoms settle down I go to double the dose. I have gone on and off it over the years because it is expensive. The Synertek colostrum powder is $65 but it lasts a long time, at least four months. I take their recommended dose of 1/4 teaspoon 3 times a day. The probiotics are usually about $25 per bottle and that lasts about a month depending which dosage you are on. I was concerned about how the colostrum company was taking colostrum from newborn calves but the way they describe it and how much they harvest there is plenty left over for the calf. It takes about six weeks to get things settled down when I start but once I'm stable I don't get gas or cramps and bowel movements are quick and no big deal. Also before I started doing this I felt I'll and nauseous after every meal. That went away with this treatment. It hasn't solved my pain or fatigue or immune system issues but it is at least one less thing to deal with. Before starting this I was pretty much home bound because of my IBS. Char Marti, I'm not trimming this so people can see the poster's question. On May 21, 2012, at 1:01 PM, " cancfs " <ambitious8@...> wrote: > That is interesting information. It usually takes about 6 weeks to get things settled down and it works much better for me when I'm on a no sugar and no white carb diet. I keep going off it because it is expensive but it always works. The approach was presented to me as a cure for leaky gut in 2000. > > > > Char - Sanford, Florida > > > >
