Guest guest
Today I discovered that Wild Oats has decided to carry Bounce and other toxic cleaners. I learned the hard way, innocently going in to buy food only to have my throat start to close when I detected the Bounce fumes. They claim they are simply responding to " a survey " of customer requests. The only way we can stop this is if enough people contact them asap. Please email or call Wild Oats and spread the word (contact info below). We will have lost yet another place to shop if they continue to stock Bounce on their shelves. Whole Foods has already started to use deodorizers in their bathrooms, and now this. When you contact the headquarters: (1) Urge them to educate consumers about the dangers of these products and respond to consumer request by supplying healthy alternatives (e.g. Static Eliminator, a natural dryer sheet that can be used for loads) (2) Explain that people like us who have multiple chemical sensitivity and others who have severe asthma or who get migraines from these sythetic fragrances will not be able to even walk into their store. ** Let them know that this is a disability issue and an access issue. We would like to be able to purchase my groceries at Wild Oats! Bounce and other fabric softener sheets, in particular, spread their smell all over the store, contaminating yogurt containers and shampoo bottles, making it impossible for us to purchase any of these items. (3) Wild Oats represents natural and organic products that do not cause harm. Let them know that they are going back on their word by carrying these products. Not only do they harm children and adults alike, but they damage fish and other wildlife in waterways. Such harm goes against the Wild Oats mission: " Our Mission: Wild Oats was founded on the vision of enhancing the lives of our customers and our people with products and education that support health and wellbeing. Wild Oats is committed to providing the highest quality, organic and natural food, health and wellness products in vibrant stores with people who are friendly, eager to serve and ready to educate. At Wild Oats, we sell food that remembers its roots. " ??? Please contact them at: http://www.wildoats.com/u/contact/ 1-800-494-WILD (9453) If you are in Boulder or surrounding area: 303-440-5220 (press 0 for their operator). Please do all you can to spread the word and let Wild Oats know that they need to be a leader, not a follower in natural health products. They can best serve their communities by educating people about the harms of these products and NOT supply them in their stores. Also inform them that a number of shoppers will boycott and picket their stores if they put these products on their shelves. * though these products have unscented or scent-free versions, stores always carry both (or just the scented ones), which will still contaminate the store as a whole. Also, the 'scent free' versions of fabric softener still contain harmful synthetic fragrance. For those of you in churches and faith communities, please encourage members to act. This is a social justice issue! Thank you!!!!

Guest guest
Do you have the number for corporate in CA? This is the terrible response I just received from the CO office: Dear Jill, Thank-you for shopping at Wild Oats Market. I am sorry to hear of your poor shopping experience at the Broadway store. I have forwarded your comments onto our standards department for review. As you may know, the new cleaning products have been brought into our store are a result of high customer demand. We still offer a large variety of natural cleaning products for you to choose from. We have simply added more variety to our shelves to meet customers convenience needs. The conventional products that have recently been introduced to our stores can be differentiated from our traditional line of natural and organic products through shelf tags labeled as " Special Request. " If you have questions regarding how to read these new tags, please ask a store manager for assistance. Once again, thank-you for shopping at Wild Oats Markets and taking the time to write us with your thoughts. Guest guest
Oops, it was CO not CA...got an exposure yesteray brain is still foggy. I am on the phone now with WIld Oats as I have had major beefs with the stores here in Vegas... They sell organic yet they place conventially grown food next to it and when its watered the run off contaminates the organic. Their RESPONSE was WE BUY ORGNAIC we didn't say we SELL ORGANIC! THey are practicing deceptive sales practices and the attorney generals office in all states need to force them to disclose that they are NOT selling products of the quality that you are led to believe is true. I had jsut called my store manager of WHole foods and he will be looking into removing Cling Free which they have insteaed of Bounce. I got a hold of at Wold Oats and told her I was shocked that she is allowing chloroformm to be in the store and did she know what chloroform was? As usual these corporate asses know nothing...so I sent her the following after explaining that chloroform was used in the olden days to knock out people. As she stated in her email and related to me it was at the request of customers...so, I said if you have customers who do not want it and refuse to be assaulted with cholorofm who are you going to listen to? OF course she is ONLY a facilitiator and will pass it on... Guest guest
I really don't see anything wrong with this. They don't claim to be totally organic store. I don't know there whole product line, but they have lots of conventially grown produce there for one thing. If product is labeled correctly from manufacturer and on shelf, I see nothing wrong with carrying it. I shop there with a friend that doesn't buy organic and she has to go there and then to another store. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jsverdlove@...> > Do you have the number for corporate in CA? > This is the terrible response I just received from the CO office:
Guest guest
I have a beef about the illusion of selling organic when its not. ITs handled and watered with the crappy water here in NV that has perchlorate in it. I have a water filer through out my whole house to remove chems and now I am suppose to buy food at an inflated price with chems and who knows what else on it? Sitting organic next to convention and the water is draining off of both and affecting both...why buy organic at that point...just buy conventional? I expect to pay more for quality food, but not food that is no better than the regular stuff. Ever since I went organic, every food allergy that I have tried I can now eat (I absolutely refuse to test it out on lemons or organces) but, if I try regualr I have the reaction. SO when I go out to eat I just eat the foods that I know I can tolerate. Guest guest
> Do you have the number for corporate in CA? > This is the terrible response I just received from the CO office: Well, they kind of missed the point here, no? The degrees of sensitivities that we as a community are now subject to -- mold, smoke and the various manifestations of MCS -- are just too far out of the range of normal experience for the general population to relate to, much less by those viewing through the filter of profitability. I support this, and I hope that this effort at bringing Whole Foods to awareness is sucessful -- this would be a major coup. However, the larger issue of addressing broader medical acceptance of our conditions is at the root of this. If what we have experienced was acknowledged, it would drive new product development and marketing, among many other things. And this would be costly. The political offensive we are up against is well aware of this. They are working to discredit our suffering at a medical level, even resorting to the production of falsified research and presenting this to our legislators to gut the whole issue at the regulatory level. While from one viewpoint this is very bad, it is encouraging that we have determined their tactics, and are now taking steps to expose this. This issue will be brought to light.
