Guest guest
Hello group, Testing out my theory and a different generic valacyclovir is working just fine. It is a blue coated tablet. The pharmacist has committed to ordering this brand every month now for me (and other patients that prefer this brand as well - I was not the first to complain about the white tablet made by Roxane). The brand I am on now happens to be Greenstone but really, I don[t think it matters as long as it not one of the three companies that doesn't add the suspension agents. Thanks for all the help and conversation. This has been illuminating. Once I stabilize, I would like to play with plain acyclovir and valine to see if that translates to valacyclovir (there are many people who cannot afford valacyclovir). Being on the Roxane wasn't like not being on anything -it did work a little bit which is why I took it for 2 months before deciding something was wrong. I did have breakthrough sore throat, fatigue, aches and pains. I guess if it had been at another time instead of right after my son left, I might have figured it out sooner. I attributed my symptoms to just being in a crashed state from the busy visit. Or, if it had worked a little bit less, I would have had stronger symptoms to force me to think about what was going on. It was a perfect storm but I have learned a lot. By the way - my POTS was remarkably worse. I was near-fainting while lying in bed, nystagmus, virtigo, lower blood pressure. My head felt like there was a balloon in there being inflated daily. Within 2 days of restarting, Valtrex, I felt like I could think, I was able to be upright for longer in the day, remembering to pay bills, etc. Still homebound and sort of bedbound but I feel more confident driving to the store once a week. I sometimes feel that POTS is the same illness as ME/CFIDS not a subset.
