Guest guest
When I started adding better calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium (i.e. Recuperation from Spain and Ultra-Cal Night from Twin Labs) my nails (which were always weak and thin) started growing stronger and longer than ever before in my life, and my hair (always thin but especially later in life) is now stronger and I get more frequent haircuts than before. Maybe your body isn't absorbing enough minerals. I do well on grapefruit seed extract (about 10 drops in my juice in the morning). Sounds like you are having lots of detox if you are taking all these things at the same time, especially with the Nystatin (which is pretty strong by itself). Hope you can get better ~ systemic candida is tough to beat. I have read here over and over, baby steps sometimes are best (a little at a time and build up to a stronger dose). in La Selva Beach CA On 5/4/2012 5:00 AM, Kaimowitz wrote: > > Hi- > > I am moving towards the GAPS diet because my candida is never gonna go > away and recently, I've introduced Grapefruit Seed Extract and Biotin > along with other herbs and meds for Candida including Candida Cleanse > by NOW and Nystatin. Guest guest
{Moderator: Please trim posts. Thanks} Here is what I'm doing that seems to help me. I started taking Lauricidin, which is monolaurin that has anti-bacterial-viral and fungal/yeast properties. Since I have had chronic constipation (don't know if it is from low thyroid or CFS related) I take triple magnesium (3 types in one) plus psyllium. This keeps my bowels moving regularly. I was hospitalized with diverticultis in the past which I'm sure must be tied to that chronic condition, so magnesium & psyllium are a must for me. I also had lots of hair loss which I think was from hypothyroidism and since starting T3/T4, that has made significant improvement in hair regrowth. Just some ideas.... Guest guest
Thank you and Joy. I do take T4 and T3. I have had a bowel test done and I have no good bacteria - but it's not like anything I do fixes that. That's why I'm transitioning to the GAPS diet. I have had a bad stomach since I was a baby and I truly believe that the dysbiosis, leaky gut,etc is the root cause of all my issues (then mercury and heavy metals). I had fibromyalgia way back from the late 80's (leaky gut) which then turned into a diagnosis of chronic lyme. And if it weren't for taking Cortef and hydrocortisone I would still consider myself to have chronic fatigue. Joy - what are the three types of magnesium you take - I take a mix of magnesium malate with calcium.  Also, will the psyllium help with the loose stools? I did hear that lots of fiber does help with either stage of IBS (diarrhea or constipation) because keeping the colon full, stops or slows the contractions. - I have a few questions for you -What is Recuperation from Spain? and do you have any idea how I may absorb minerals better? I have been juicing more, etc, but so far, it's not helping with the weakness. Also, Nystatin is tough on the system? Didn't know that? What else am I taking that is doing a lot of detox? I take these at night (A, E, D, mag/cal, selenium, zinc, vitex, candida cleanse, DIM and BH4 but I'm running out and can't afford to replace it) and during the day I take zinc, mag/cal, DIM and vitex and nystatin. There's a bunch of other stuff I want to take, like Lecithin and biotin etc, but think it may be too much. And , I agree, I have learned over time, that slow and steady is the only way that works with me, as well. That's why even these dietary changes, which I think are subtle, my body is reacting to. ________________________________ From: Joy <joyhealth08@...> Sent: Friday, May 4, 2012 7:29 PM Subject: Re: Weak Nails and Hair Growth  {Moderator: Please trim posts.
