Guest guest
Hi Everyone-- I have a question for people if anyone is willing to answer. Â How do those who us who are not able to work due to our ME/CFS support themselves financially? Â I have been sick for 8.5 years and most of that time have been able to work in one capacity or another. Â Unfortunately, lately, I have gotten worse and don't know if I'd be able to work. Â I am single so this is a concern of mine. Â Thanks-- Joe

Guest guest
Hi Joe, I am on US Federal Disability. I retired from my career with the Forest Service a couple of months following onset because I could not work. I have good insurance that I have to pay for. My total annual income on disability is $13,000. Just enough to make me I eligible for state services like Medicaid. Food stamps, etc. for the first 9 years I lived on my own with that but then got remarried in 2002. Hubs is a software engineer so makes decent money. He though was just dxd with CFS so things will be changing. Guest guest
If you are no longer able to work at all, and your condition is expected to last longer than 1 year, you can apply for social security disability benefits. It always takes awhile, sometimes 2 or more years, but it can help Meanwhile, family and friends.... Best wishes Jill On 7/19/2012 7:56 AM, ph Polchinski wrote: > > Hi Everyone-- > > I have a question for people if anyone is willing to answer. Guest guest
I have a husband who makes pretty good money. Additionally, I am in the process of applying for Social Security Disability. I have been denied twice on paper records and now get to see a judge face-to-face.
