's Daily Message ThursdayNovember 09, 2006MY HAND IS STILL OUT

In the last few days, I have received more than 100 emails from people who have slipped down the steps of life and have gained some weight, most weight, or all the weight back. They don`t admit to me in their email that they`re having problems staying on program. Their email goes something like this:

Oh, , it is such a beautiful day here! The sun is shining, and the birds are singing. My dog is so cute! And I just put new curtains in the kitchen windows. Oh, and I got my new copy of "People Magazine"! Hope you`re having a nice day!

Hmm… not a word about how they`re doing weight wise! When I get email like this, I know these people are not doing well and just don`t want to tell me, so they hide it from me. You know me; I am very good at Hide and Seek! So for the last few days, I`ve been writing emails to all of them that went something like this:

Dear , Bill, a, , Tom…

I am so glad the sun is shining and the birds are singing! I`m sure your dog is cute as can be, and the new curtains look great in your kitchen. And I`m sure you`re really enjoying your new copy of "People Magazine," but… how are you doing with your weight? You never mentioned anything in your last email. I remember not so long ago, you were telling me you were doing great. You were exercising every day, you were staying on 1600 calories a day, you were drinking your H2O, and you were so happy and proud of yourself for losing 5 inches around your waist. So tell me, what happened? Why did you stop? How much did you gain back?

Just about everyone emails me back to tell me their story, and it was a story of weight gain. I told them as I tell you. The minute you put on 5 pounds, you are in danger of gaining more! When you gain 5 pounds is when you should regroup with yourself and fix the problem, not when you`ve gained 30, 50, or 100 pounds! And remember, my hand is still out if you need… a helping hand.

Love,
