Guest guest
Maytag Neptune Washer http://www.complaints.com/directory/2004/august/27/1.htm We purchased a Maytag Neptune washing machine model number MAH5500AWW on Oct. 2000 for $887.86. At that time that was the most expensive and supposedly best washing machine available in the market. After watching an in store demo of the Maytag Neptune Washer and Dryer where the sales person spoke about the long term savings of water and electricity, claiming that the initial investment was worth it in the long run, we were greatly influenced to purchase a Neptune Washer an Dryer. It turned out we bought a lemon.... The " best " washing machine in the market worked fine for 2 years until the mold smell and mildew started to appear and now the electronic control board decided to break. We spent $324.66 to fix the control board. All the supposed water and electricity savings (so commonly advertised by Maytag) went down the drain while these problems, unheard of in other washing machines, started to appear. It also makes me very sad to know that it is very likely that many other expensive breakdowns will occur in the next few years. I feel ripped off.... After researching the problem I find out that the control board burn out is a widespread issue in all Neptune washing machines and a known problem by Maytag. I also felt outrage to know I HAD to purchase a new motor with the control board even though the new motor does not fit in my machine and the original motor, which is still on warranty, works just fine. I now have a useless Maytag Neptune motor in my garage, a motor I was forced to buy. For all the money spent in the Maytag Neptune Washing Machine ($1,212.52) I could have bought 4 washing machines that most likely would never have to be fixed and that would do just as good of a job (if not better) than the Maytag Neptune Washer. If you are in the market for a washing machine DO NOT BUY A MAYTAG NEPTUNE WASHER!!! If you own the Neptune Washer file a complaint at the Better Business Bureau of IOWA (the state of the Maytag headquarters) http://www.desmoines.bbb.org and demand a refund for the repairs on known and widespread problems in these machine.
