Guest guest
I have the Maytag Neptune front loader as well. Sometimes I notice a musty smell in my clothes, but it's only after I've left them sit in there for a day before throwing them in the dryer. I usually end up washing them again. I will have to check out there site though. That's very interesting. I've often wondered if I should let the door open for it to air out. [] washing machines Has anyone heard of a design defect in the Maytag Neptune front load washers? A friend of mine who has just totally gutted her stachy / mold house and rebuilt it noticed her clothes were smelling strange. Musty and stale. It turned out that her new washing maching wasn't fully discharging the water and now mold was growing in her washing maching. They spent over an hour on the phone with Maytag and were told that you can find info about this on the Maytag website and that Maytag will make the proper repairs to eliminate this problem. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this problem. _____
Guest guest
, I have an expensive but moldy Maytag. There is a class action lawsuit going on. I'm surprised Maytag is a new one. Is it new????? You would think fact they are being sued would have caused change in design. Anyway, I called about my moldy Maytag and was told it couldn't be fixed and just to go to Maytag website and register my machine in the suit, which I already done actually. Mine was bought in 2000 I believe. They suggest taking one cup of Cascade detergent with bleach and running machine on settings of: 'cotton', 'hot' and 'heavy'. However moldy spots are still on rubber gasket afterwards. Maybe they are dead, can't tell. Can't take a tape lift. It seems to be 'in' plastic somehow. Guest guest
, I would be interesting to hear how old washing machine is as one of options in lawsuit is to replace machine. I'm sure it would be another Maytag and I want a front loader due to large rugs I do. Guest guest
Kim, How old is your machine? I thought the mold problem was a design flaw that they fixed. ----- Original Message ----- From: " Kim Kauffman " <tkkskauffman@...> >I have the Maytag Neptune front loader as well. Guest guest
I believe we bought it in the spring of 2001. I didn’t realize there was a class action lawsuit. I will have to check out their website. Thanks. Re: [] washing machines Kim, How old is your machine? I thought the mold problem was a design flaw that they fixed. Guest guest
Yes, I was part of the old Maytag front end loader class action lawsuit, but they just wanted to retrofit the thing. It ,the lawsuit is over as far as I am concerned. I just threw mine out. They arn't good for a 12 hr soak anyway > Has anyone heard of a design defect in the Maytag Neptune front load washers? Guest guest
I have an older Amana top loader, which was a Monkey Wards machine. It was fine for years, but it got musty when the basement was so bad. I started using bleach regularly (after running it through a couple of empty loads with it & hot water) in a small amount in my wash, and it has helped. I also leave the top up when not in use, to air out. I was looking at those cool Maytags at Home Depot, and they sure are cool looking. Glad to know not to buy one. My mom has a Sears Kenmore front loader, and she is really happy with it.
Guest guest
Dear , I don't have a front loaded but my sister just bought one about 6 mts ago. She said she'd never get one again cuz once you start it you cannot stop it to add clothes if you forgot something. But I was at Jim's cousin house & she had one also & this one had a feature that you could stop it. I know they cost alot more money. > > Group, > > My hubby and I went looking at Washing machines yesterday, at front loaders. > Found a deal on a GE brand one, I'd have to buy the pedistal later, but > wondered since some of you have them, what brand you liked, and if they are > worth the extra cost given our backs. > > > Colorado Springs >
Guest guest
Hi Sussan, We bought the Samsung pair in 2007. They had the anti-vibration model which we wanted since the pair would be on the main floor. (no basement) (most of them have that now) It came with the pedistals and I store all my laundry products in them. It can be opened to add more clothes. It saves water and hydro (since the spin makes the clothes almost dry) but the one thing I don't like is the load must be a decent size because as someone said it cleans by tumbling the clothes against one another. We are just the two of us and sometimes we need something so the load is small. The dryer doesn't handle a small load well either. The clothes sticks to the dryer and doesn't tumble and therefore are wrinkled. I know you have kids at home so your loads will be large and none of these problems will occur. I feel it has helped my back and as long as my loads are at least medium size, I like the way they work. Guest guest
I have noticed some of the posts from group members about washing machines. I have a Maytag top-loader that is more than 20 yrs. old. I also have a Crosley dryer that is older than 15 yrs. old. I would hate to replace my washer & dryer at this point because the prices are so high now-a-days! (I sympathize with you !) But, the way my washer & dryer are set up, I can't have a stackable unit in my laundry room. They would have to be side-by-side models. I have often wondered how people get their wash out of a front-loader? I would have to look for another top-loader. I was in a local appliance dealer, and they still manufacture top-loaders! So, I would have to look at another top-loader...for my back. Guest guest
My units have a cabinet above them, so I can't put stackables in there. I don't have any problem reaching into the washing machine because the units are in a depression on the floor (about 2-3 inches). I guess they did that in case you have a washer overflow--and it has a drain in it. The dryer I have trouble with. Usually have to use a grabber. I'm with you there on winning the Lottery!!
