Integrated Disease Surveillance: The objective of the project is to

help in the shift from a centrally driven, vertically organized

disease surveillance system to one coordinated by the center and

implemented by the states, districts and communities. The project's

components will (a) coordinate and decentralize disease surveillance

activities (B) integrate and strengthen disease surveillance at the

state and district levels © improve laboratory support and (d)

provide training for disease surveillance and action. Project

preparation is under way. Environmental Assessment Category B. PID:

INPE73651. US$ 60 (IDA). Consultants will be required to (a) assess

laboratory facilities; (B) estimate training needs and capacity

assessment at district, state and national levels; © make an

institutional assessment at central, state and district levels; and

(d) prepare plans and manuals for handling medical and laboratory
