MILL VALLEY (KRON) -- School is still out for summer for students at

Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley. Administrators are delaying

the start of classes by one week after tests found abnormally high

levels of mold in the school.

The test results follow a busy summer of construction and renovation

at the school which was built in 1908. Air quality experts detected

the mold in Keyser Hall.

In a statement on the district web site, administrators described

the test results.

" The results indicate unhealthy levels of the mold

Penicillium/Aspergillus in certain parts of the building, " the web

site reads. " As a result, we need to relocate the classrooms in

Keyser to other areas of the campus. "

More tests will be conducted over the next two and a half weeks.

School district officials will then have to determine how best to

fix the problem. One solution reportedly involves tearing down and

removing Keyser Hall.

Classes at Tamalpais High will now start on August 23. If you or

your son or daughter goes to the school, click here to check the

school's web site or you may call the office.

If you look on the wall of the Mill Valley Coffee Shop in Mill

Valley, you'll see a picture of the restaurant and all the buildings

on st. being flooded in a old black and white picture and

then again in a newer color photo.

I got a write up in the SF Chronicle in Herb Caen's column for

saving the restaurant from damage by serious flooding, and I took

that color photo of the modern flood which is on the wall.

The rain was falling and water was rising and with no other suitable

materials to hand, I sandbagged the building with bags of steer

manure. Even though the place finally flooded anyway, I had sealed

it up so tightly that no mud entered and when the water receded -

all we had to do was sweep the place out and go back to work.

All the other places were mopping mud up for a week.

When I took that picture, I can well remember getting mold slammed.

Even though that was over twenty five years ago, I can still

remember all the businesses and places in Mill Valley I was forced

to avoid because they made me so sick.

" For sure, for sure "

- " Awesome " (as I was known back then
