International Training Programme on PLANNING FOR CARE AND SUPPORT OF

PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV at New Delhi AUGUST 18-23, 2003

OBJECTIVES

The broad objective of this training programme is to strengthen technical

and managerial capabilities of participants in planning and implementation

of care and support programme for people living with HIV (PLHA) and their

families. More specifically, it will focus on;

· Situation analysis to understand the care and support needs (health,

economic, social etc.) of PLHA and their families.

· Comprehensive HIV/AIDS care .

· Ethical issues in care and support of people living with HIV.

· Hospital/ clinical based care of HIV/AIDS

· Home based care of PLHA.

· Community based care of PLHA.

· Counselling.

· Monitoring and evaluation of care and support programme for PLHA.

PARTICIPANTS: The programme is designed for planners, programme managers and

researchers in organisations, institutions and NGOs involved in the management

of HIV/AIDS at provincial and national levels. The number of participants is

restricted to 25.

FEE: The course fee will be Rs.12,000/- for Indian participants and US $600/-

for international participants. This covers charges for board and lodging and

course material. The participants/sponsoring agencies will have to bear the

travel expenses to and from New Delhi.
