Guest guest
Wednesday, August 10, 2005 Local News: Flora, Illinois --------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- Clay County Board plans to clean house of courthouse basement, tables zoning discussion The Clay County Board decided that there will be a little crying on the courthouse lawn come October. Because of unhealthy conditions in the courthouses basement the county began looking for ways to cut down on mold. The solution is to get rid of paper that is stored in the basement and auction off anything from the basement that the county does not use. Sue Pettit, County Board Chair, told the board during her report that an inspection of the basement had been completed and the recommendation was to clean house. Bandy, board member, said that she had been in contact with several auctioneers from the area and that Monty VanDyke had offered the best deal. " VanDyke offered the best deal, he said he will charge ten percent, " Bandy said. " And that he would treat us right. " The board approved VanDyke running the auction and setting a date sometime in early October. The board is asking officials from the county to develop an inventory so other items than just those in the basement can be sold.
