LOVE PEOPLE, NOT FOOD

First, may I say Happy Valentine's Day to all of you! Oh, if I were there with you right now, I'd do my little Valentine's Day dance just for you! But, since I'm not, I'll just have to send you hugs and kisses via this message.Ahhh, Valentine's Day. Today is a day where we are in love...with food. All around the country, people had heart-shaped pancakes this morning or heart-shaped French toast, accompanied by ham, sausage patties or bacon. And, of course, there were big sides of home fries. (I guess they call them home fries because those potatoes are fried at home!)Millions of people will go out for Valentine's Day lunch or dinner. They'll go to places that serve heart-shaped sandwiches. In cities from coast-to-coast, people will be dining on chateau brianne, dungeoness crab and let's not forget the champagne and truffles.

Yes, this is the day where we put food on a pedestal and just about pray to it, all in the name of love. There's a candy factory about 20 minutes from my house called Mrs. See's. Mrs. See is very famous here in Los Angeles. It's were she started. You know you're almost at the factory because you can actually smell the candy being made as you approach the it! They have a little store up front but the rest of the building is devoted soley to making candy. Delicious candies, I might add. Some are made with nuts, some with cream, oh...it's all like a dream!I drove by Mrs. See's a couple of days ago and the line outside the store was nearly three blocks long. I didn't stop. You see, it's Valentine's Day but I don't think you should be loving food today. I think you should be loving people. This is the special day you should be thinking about all of the people who've shot an arrow into your heart. Yes, you should be thinking about all the people who truly love you. I asked you all once in one of my messages, a while back, to write down the names of the top ten people in your lives who you know love you the most. Did you do it? Well, if you didn't, today is the day to do it.

Write down those ten names and not only that, I want you to call each of them today. I love receiving cards in the mail. But I'm really not a big fan of E-mail cards. I am a fan of phone calls, though. Oh, it doesn't have to be a long conversation. Just call and tell the people you love Happy Valentine's Day and let them know how much you love them.And, oh, you know that all animals were at one time human beings, don't you? So spend some time loving your pets today, too. Just remember, your small bulldog could be your great-grandmother!Anyhow, I don't want you to love food too much today. I don't mind if you like the food, I just don't want you to love it. Today, love a sister, love a brother, love a lover but don't "love" a spare rib!And remember, I love you more than I love chocolate-chip ice cream, hot fudge, shaved roasted coconut or maraschino cherries.XXX,
