FIRST THINGS, FIRST!

Friday, 01 February 2008Happy first day...of February, everybody! Here we are, with January behind us and a brand new February to look forward to.Now you know we're in a Leap Year. So that means that this February we have 29 days, rather than the usual 28. Isn't that great? We get another day this month to eat healthy and exercise!And did you take my Five-Pounds-A-Month Challenge in January? Did you lose five pounds last month? Please tell me yes so I'll know I'm doing a good job, right along with you. If you did lose that amount or maybe even a little more last month, well...congratulations! That means you've begun your new year on a very healthy note!But if you gained weight or stayed the same, it means you've brought some of your same not-so-good habits into the new year. We can't have that! According to statistics, if you didn't lose weight in January, chances are, you will not lose much weight in the months to come, either. But let's prove those statistics wrong, shall we? How?Well, you need to take an inventory of your January to figure our where your weaknesses were. You had 31 days last month. How many of those days did you exercise to the best of your ability?If you didn't lose any weight last month, it probably means you were a little lazy about your eating. Instead of cooking healthy meals at home, were you just grabbing something to eat, wherever you could? And remember, 8 glasses of water a day...did you have your 248 glasses of water last month? And how in-charge were you of your emotions last month, huh? You should know that controlling your emotions is an important key to controlling the food.By losing weight last month and getting your body into better shape, you probably lowered your cholesterol, blood pressure and, if you're diabetic, you probably even lowered your blood sugar, too. And if all that good news isn't enough, in 31 days, you could have toned your muscles and seen a big difference in the way you look. Wow! Just look at of all the good you could have done in just one itty-bitty month!You know what else? In those 31 days, you could have slept better. Because when you work hard all day, you sleep better at night. So please, today, for those of you were not really on program last month, fix those weak spots in your lifestyles this month.And you know...it's not going to be an easy month for you. Why? Well, candy, candy, candy...doesn't look so good on your fanny! (That's why.) Valentine's Day will be here in 13 days. So watch out for those sweet-bows, iced-arrows and chocolate covered cherries! February is the month of love and I know a lot of you will be eating out with someone you truly love to celebrate. Just be careful when you eat out, okay? I wonder who you love more...the food or you. Now remember, there's still a February Challenge, this month! Just think, if you lost five pounds last month and you lose five more pounds this month, then you would have lost a total of ten pounds so far this year! And oh how happy you'll be when you get on that scale and see those numbers declining!Have a wonderful February, my friends. I want you to know that I'll be here all month for you, your own little Cupid!Love,
