Yum and OMG Sapphy - that all sounds good. Glad I am not at your work. Hope it went well for you.

We had a "potluck" of sorts last week - if you can even call it that - they had like donuts, breads and fruit (continental breakfast??) with juices...

This Friday they are having ANOTHER POTLUCK - I don't think I will be participating.

I told them they need to figure out another way to say good-bye and hello to the people coming/going from our department and get through the holidays vs eating all the time.

They are like this isn't much... OMG... I said it isn't?? Then they are having a "soup and salad" holiday thing in December. Said that one is "only" soup and salad. I said yah until everyone starts adding candies/cookies, etc.

Where's the duct tape??

Who has NO self control this week

I bought a bag of oranges and a bag of baby carrots for snacking this week at work, some lowfat mozerrella cheese for 11 a.m. snacks, and that's about it.

That's great changes to the snacks you used to buy Sapphy!! Hope you had a great rest of the week!!

How about you? How did you do? What is your gameplan for the rest of the holiday season?

Good for you gaining only 2 lbs Sapphy - hope you have worked most of that back off. Mine was a 3 lb gain over 2 weeks. Not bad, but not going further up the scale either.

My plan for the rest of the year (December) is to stay on track with exercise and vitamins now that I have those going again and to get on track with fruits/veggies and meal planning/preparation.

The last (shopping/planning) is the first to go when life gets hectic and it's been crazy for me the past 6 weeks.

>Why do patients, families, > doctors always send cookies, candies, etc and rarely do they send a > fruit basket? It is a hospital so you would think healthy right?

It's probably a matter of economics and convenience. Around here you can pick up a nice box of butter cookies or a platter of assorted cookies or donuts at a reasonable price, all fancied up and shrink-wrapped, at any bakery. But to get a fruit platter or basket you have to first find a place that sells them (only 1 in our entire city) then pay probably 4 times the price for half the amount.

Besides, most hospital personnel prefer the baked goods, anyway. Any time we got fruit baskets only a few of us would grab anything at all and usually took it home to eat and the rest we would distribute to various patients. Cookies are quick to grab and gulp down while on the run.

Sapphyre,I had about the same kinda weekend you did. I ate WAYYYYYYYYYY too much and moved too little.I maintained the weight - which may sound not so bad but when this was only my SECOND week, I'm pretty disappointed in me. But hopping back on the horse and ready to ride for another week and try again.

Peace all!!!Jen B On Dec 17, 2007 7:02 AM, Sapphyre <sapphyreonalosingstreak@...> wrote:

Mine went alright except for Friday. I was SO angry SO frustrated SO stressed out I binged, candy fast food a lot of bad things. Had some 'retail therapy' and did purchase nice non food things for me that helped a little, some jewelry and 2 dvds. And a bottle of pinot grigio (wine). Because the source of the stress was work I'm not much better today having to go back in but I have it to do and will be more sane about it.

I weighed this morning and have maintained since my last WI.

Sorry to hear you are dealing with so much <stuff> at your job Sapphy - ahhhhh the honeymoon is over. Worth sticking out, or will you look for something new?

Sticking it out. I'm trying to get tenure. I've had 3 jobs in 3 years, I'd like to make at least two years on this one. I just take a deep breath and go on.

> I was SO angry SO frustrated SO stressed out I binged, candy fast food a lot of bad things.

Hope things are going better now, Sapphyre. This is such a tough time!

For me, the only way to prevent a binge from happening is to NOT have that stuff around the house and to NOT take that first bite. Once I start, that's it until it's all gone.

Right now is the most dangerous time of the year, with hubby bringing stuff home from work. Alas, I have succumbed to the charms of chocolate chip cookies and those chocolate candy things are calling my name, so I had the kid take them into his room and away from ear-shot. Only one more week to go and all the temptations will be gone again.

I'm glad there's someone to keep an eye on your mom. How old is she? She won't even go to an MD office, or Urgent Care?

Be sure to be easy on yourself, too, you're not helping your mom if you can't get better either. Can you work a half-day, or possibly do some work at home?

Keep drinking your waters. Keeping hydrated is usually one of the first "rules" of getting over something, to flush out the toxins, etc.

Take care.

Monday Confessions: How Did Your Weekend Go?

Mine HORRIBLE. I'm so worried about my mother she's still so sick with this crud and won't agree to go to a hospital. I HAVE to go to work today I'm just thankful we have a houseguest here that will be looking after her while I'm at work. As far as eating I am but not much. I've lost 11 pounds with this 'stuff', from 240 to 230. I'll keep at it and try to keep the loss down. How'd everyone else do?

My week went pretty

well. Of course I lose slowly. I went to the dietician yesterday

for the first time since 2003 when I was first diagnosed with diabetes.

We went over my busy schedule and my blood glucose numbers. We came up

with a plan of how to eat throughout the day to try and lower my numbers.

I tend to go long periods of time without eating and my blood sugar spikes

because the liver dumps sugar into my blood. Anyway, we figured breakfast

at 6:30, a snack at 10:30, lunch at 1:00, snack at 4:00 and dinner at 6:30 or 7.

We also made a plan to work in some exercise and we switched around the time of

day I take my medicine. Oh, and I was down 3 pounds from when I saw my

doctor on January 3rd. So that is 3 pounds loss in 11 days, I

lose slow but as long as my weight keeps going in the right direction I am

happy with that.

Sapphrye - that really stinks! The only time I've had accidents (2) in nearly 30 (yikes) years - was when I got a new car! I'm hoping she's insured.

Mine was fine eating and exercise wise. The blow came Sunday afternoon when I was at a gas station and an idiot woman backed into my brand new car and crumpled the driver's side back door I'm just absolutely sick about it.

DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA !!!!!!!!!!

First, Saturday night our cable/internet went out. We

JUST got it back on this evening.

Second, I finally got to take my wounded car to the

body shop, assured they had my rental all ready for

me, THEY DIDN'T so now I'm worried they are going to

stick me with the rental fee which I CANNOT afford.

Did I tell you about the vet bill?! 197.00 to

diagnose my beagle as canine epileptic! Ay yi yi yi

yi!

BUT!!!!

I've maintained my program !!!!! I'm down another

pound to just under 235!!! Lovely little enzymes are

doing their part to digest all that blechy foodstuff

and keep me losing! I'm so happy on that front. Like

the dope I am I weighed this morning AFTER breakfast

so really, I COULD be a tad lower. I'll wait though

until Sunday because 5 more good days and another GOOD

weighin!

How's everyone else doing?!

A lot of OA literature remind you that if you over-eat over a problem

you then wind up with 2 problems, that food won't solve (fill in the

blanks). Congrats on doing the right thing. :)
