Guest guest
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still here!Took a week's vacation with my hubby -- went to visit my aging parents in North Dakota. Doesn't a week in North Dakota in February sound like a great vacation? It was actually a pretty good trip. We took our time getting there -- even stayed overnight at the college where we met. They have a guest dorm room that they rent out to alumni & visitors. It is a cheap place to stay! Sure brought back a lot of memories! Was able to connect with some old friends that we hadn't seen in years during our vacation. So that was good.Came back home and we got hit with the flu. First my husband, and then me. I am doing pretty good as far as my weight. I gained some on our vacation. But I expected to do that -- even though I was careful about what I ate while traveling, there is always a weight gain from all of the sodium in the restaurant food. I do think this was our first trip that ended up being a "no fast food" trip. I weighed in at my WW meeting this morning and was only up .3 pounds. Considering that I haven't been exercising and eating only what I needed & could easily grab this week; I'm not too uptight about it. I am in this for the long haul and will just have to keep on working at it. Guest guest
Its funny that you said that Kathy as we had a long conversation the other day about the color pink. Apparently alot of the women I know who work with cancer coalitions are sick of the color pink because fo the breast cancer research campaign. I just found that odd. It was my favorite color as a little girl, but it in no way bothers me now. I wonder why so many people dislike it so. P > > I'm still here. Guest guest
a:I don't hate pink. I'm wearing a pink shirt right now!It just bugs me that pink is used to denote " this is for girls/women. " And pink gets dirty-looking faster than, say, black. The gloves got pretty sweaty after one use. I hate to think what they're going to look like after a few dozen uses. A darker color would have been more practical. And you don't even want to get me started on the pink soup cans and cereal boxes that are allegedly for breast cancer awareness. Guest guest
I personally love blue and green. I didn't think about the glove/dirt factor. a > > > > > > I'm still here. Guest guest
I used to hate pink because I associated it with wimpy, girly things. Then I had a little girl who LOVES pink and became a breast cancer survivor too. Now, I love pink!! Not like my daughter does, but now I feel like I can wear pink and still be strong. I still hate tool sets that are pink though. Meanwhile, a member in one of my WW meetings is a cancer survivor (Ewing's sarcoma) and she can't stand pink just because she sees breast cancer fundraising as dominating cancer research fundraising. Since hers was a rare cancer it doesn't get much funding so pink ticks her off. Re: Still Here! Its funny that you said that Kathy as we had a long conversation the other day about the color pink. Guest guest
I should say *I* became a breast cancer survivor. Little girl is very healthy & I only pray she stays that way (I don't carry the genes so hopefully, she will). (who purposely bought the pink Polar F6 and LOVES wearing it all the time!)
