AN EXTRA 24 HOURS!

Friday, 29 February 2008

Most people are like me and really don't know too much about Leap Year. Oh sure, we know that Leap Years come every four years. But how much do we know about them beyond that? Curious about it all, I went to the Internet to get some more information. I'll admit, it was a little complicated but let me do my best to explain.Scientists and astronomers from long ago helped put together the 12 month calendar as we know it today. The Roman Emperor Constantine also got involved and, together, they are responsible for the placement of many of our holidays and the start dates for each of our four seasons. From their calculations also came the number of days we would have in each month. This was all done by studying the stars, the moon and the annual rotation of the earth around the sun. (Hey, I told you it was complicated!) But in order for our years and time to stay totally synchronized, every four years, we'd need an extra day. So-o-o, Happy Leap Day!Now don't ask a lot of questions. All I can tell you is that Constantine and all his friends are responsible for our present calendars and we should be happy about it. And the happy part of it is this: You know how we always wish we could have a few extra hours? Well, in 2008, our wish comes true because we get a whole extra 24 hours...a whole extra day!So, what are you gonna do with your extra day today...Leap Day? Well, you can play leap frog! No? Well, how's about doing a little Leap-rechaun dance? No wait...that's next month! LOL.Hmmm. You can take a leap of faith which means you can start really believing in yourself today. (Hey, now that's not a bad idea!) You know, tomorrow begins the third month of 2008. And at the end of March, that means one-quarter of this year will already be over.On this Leap Day, I want you to take an inventory of how you did in the month of February. Did you meet our Five-Pounds-A-Month Weight-Loss Challenge? Have you lost 10 pounds or more so far this year? Were you really clicked-in with your exercise? Have you made smart choices where your fork is concerned? Did you have a good relationship with your scale this month? And did you have a good relationship with yourself?I want you to leap to new heights today. Add a few extra minutes to your exercise routine. Have a salad tonight for dinner that includes at least ten vegetables. Get in all eight glasses of water you should be drinking each day. And, last but not leap, ooops, I mean, last but not least...start planning your month of March!March will bring us another batch of holidays. Oh, you know. March is the month of green beer and Cadbury Eggs. (But not always in that order.) In any event, start figuring out how you're going to handle the holidays the month of March will bring you. Before I go, I want to ask you a question. How much did you weigh on March 1, 2007? And what will you weigh tomorrow, March 1, 2008? I know some of you may get tired of me harping on these things but, remember, I'm your little harp player!I want you to use this Leap Day to help you leap a little bit closer to your goal next Month!Love You All...with a song in my heart!
