A PAMPERING DAY

Sunday, 10 February 2008

I'm always looking through magazines and seeing ads for these glamorous spas all over the world. They're often in countries like Switzerland, Belgium and in some beautiful areas right here in the United States. I think one of the first ones to ever open in this country was called Arden's Red Door.In fact, I went there once to teach a big exercise class and my, oh my...what an unbelievable place it was. From the moment you walked in, you were immediately transported to a different world. You starting feeling relaxed, even as you walked to the front desk.A consultant was there to greet you and to discuss all of the spa treatments they offered. I remember looking over the list and seeing fourteen different massages and ten varieties of facial treatments. Yep, you named a body part and they could rub or cream it!Now let's talk about the food. The spa menu was simple. It offered very well-balanced meals that were all low in fat. They all looked so very fancy when they were served, too. There were plenty of exercise classes, of course, featuring everything from Tai Chi to yoga. There was also a very peaceful-setting for a meditation room. There, you could sit quietly as you regrouped your thoughts about yourself and your life. Now you'd better be sitting down because I'm going to tell you how much this whole thing cost. Are you ready? It was like, $7,000 a week! Eeek! Now, I have to tell you, I'm not the spa type. I'm just a little too private for that. But on Sundays, I like to turn my own house into a spa. I begin planning my healthy meals for the day. And, like the fancy spa, those meals are low-fat and well-balanced.

I get up early that morning to do my workout. And as soon as I get home from doing my radio show, I take a hot bath and meditate in the tub for a little while. I also soap up my feet and rub them. I make sure my nails are well-manicured. I put moisturizer all over my whole body and face. After that, I take a little nap. And when I get up from my nap, I feel just like I've spent a whole day at one of those fancy spas. So, how about you? Remember, it's important to re-energize your body and the perfect way to do it is with a day of body-pampering. Hey, you spend so much time pampering everyone else in your life all week long. You should focus on pampering yourself on this very blessed day.You can go to any drug store and find moisturizers and facial masks that should make you look and feel five years younger. So, I hope you'll make the time to turn your house into a private spa today and pamper yourself.Could someone pass me the chamomile tea?Love,
