Guest guest
We've never had to file a claim with our insurance company before ... until now, with our renters insurance policy. It's with Allstate, and as far as I can tell, they cover mold contamination. We called them about a week and a half ago ... we filed a claim and have been shuffled around from adjustor to adjustor ... people call us almost daily to " get the details " and let us know that we're being assigned to an adjustor " closer to home " . Does anyone know ... Is this common practice? Any advice is greatly appreciated. --------------------------------- Start your day with - make it your home page

Guest guest
I have Allstate and they are getting ready to deny my claim. They are making noise that this is not a " sudden unforseen catastrophic " event like an Earthquake but an " ongoing, predating " problem that I should have been aware of. My attorney is preparing a fight. Angelika Re: [] The Insurance Game ... Guest guest
If there is a requirement that a covered loss must be " sudden and unforeseen " it is usually located in the last section of a policy known as " General Conditions " or " Standard Conditions " . I don't believe the word " catastrophic " is used in the policy. ================================================ Re: [] The Insurance Game ... Guest guest
My Dear Mold Survivor, It is with deep regret that I don't have any help for you, but I can tell you what to expect. 4 years ago this past April we moved from our mold infested house following the orders of our Doctors, our Attorney and of course the scientist who did the mold testing. I will not mention our insurance company because we are in litigation. However, we are suing our insurance company, the people we bought the house from, the real estate company, the realtor, and the insurance company who had insurance on the house for the people we bought it from. Notice in the beginning of this note I mentioned that was 4 years ago. We still have not been to court. We still don't have a home. We still don't have any personal posessions to speak of. You see when this sort of catastrophe happens, there is no safety net. Nobody understands and further no one cares, save the ones of us who have endured the scoffs and laughs of the insurance companies, builders, realtors and former owners. So my advise to you, is start finding somewhere to go, and get ready for a long haul. We have what I believe is a very good attorney, and in the beginning I thought this would't take long, however, I was wrong. I wish you and your family luck and good health and may we all live to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Guest guest
Yes, this is a very sorry state of affairs for mold victims. I agree with what you said, my case is going on 3 years now. I would still be there if I hadn't paid for the repairs and sold the place. It is a very long and difficult road.
