A New Beginning - my plan for the week

Yes, , thank you.

Today, I want to do the following:

somehow catch up on sleep. Due to DH's snoring (I really think he needs to be tested for sleep apnea), I did not go to sleep until sometime after 3am.

do my meal plans for this week, eating down the freezer which is packed.

do grocery shopping for perishables

get my hair colored (it is nearly next door to grocery store)

send a sympathy card. We lost a friend of the family last week. Salt-of-the-earth, would help you with anything guy. Married nearly 60 years.

do a short bike ride, possibly incorporating it into one of the above.

Update: OK, got sidetracked after DH called me to breakfast. I have now pretty much completed meal plan and shopping list, will be leaving shortly. One thing that has routinely worked for me is the Splash Shopper program for my Palm. It is the only thing I have been able to use consistently for several years. I have the aisle number on all the items. I can just start at one end of the store and work my way down. This is a great program - NAYY.

This is MY meal plan for this week. Right now, the plan is to HAVE a plan, I'll worry about lowering points, etc. later. I've also decided to add breakfast, lunch and snacks into the Palm, although I won't post them here. No one else looks at my Palm, and even if they did and - horrors - made some comment about how most of the items in my calendar are food-related (I can't think of anyone I know that would do that), I would simply tell them the truth; I am trying to be more mindful of what I eat. Either that or "None of your damn business, thank you very much."

These meals are usually for 3 people. I try to cook for more than one meal at a time, because I generally don't like cooking. So, there is some repetition during the week as we use up stuff.

SUN - Chix broccoli noodle bake. Saw recipe in Parade Magazine and I have some leftover plain spaghetti to get rid of. Steamed cabbage and onions. Two slices of leftover veggie quiche. Berries with angel food cake. Yeah, cleaning out the fridge with this meal (grin). PREP for tomorrow: pico de gallo.

MON - Chili, tortilla chips, pico de gallo, tossed green salad or celery sticks. PREP for tomorrow: Apple dessert/pie/cobbler. Have some aging apples, need to use up.

TUE - Steamed/grilled fish, possibly salmon which we have, or cod which I will get - we had salmon last week. Mac-n-cheese, apple cobbler thingy (less sugar), tossed green salad, with spinach base.

WED - Leftovers from Sunday, plus spinach/carrot/walnut salad.

THU - Jambalaya, dinner rolls or toasted bread, citrus salad, tossed green salad with grape tomatoes.

FRI - Grilled Chicken, sliced into strips and placed on bed of spinach with chopped fresh basil.

SAT - Unsure. Plan calls for lasagna, but there is a funeral/memorial/wake that day, so we might go out for Chinese later.

It will be interesting to see how this holds up, now that I've posted it in front of God and everybody (grin).

Have a great week, people!

I got the meal plan done, not just for dinner, but most breakfasts and a couple of lunches.

I got a new mini-blender that has a cup you can remove and take with you. Which is good because I take transit to work, and now I can have that smoothie after all, without hauling out Mr. Big Pretentious Blender.

I did NOT get my hair colored. Honestly, maybe I should just take it off the list.

I did NOT get on the bike.

I *do* need more sleep.

I picked up the greeting cards I need for this week, and they will go out tomorrow.

I am moving the candy dish down the hall to the copy room. I'm in there often enough, too, but this way, at least it's out of my field of vision. I bought the dish; I buy the candy; I can decide where it goes. So THERE!

Sunday's dinner went OK. I got tied up in a TV show and caught it just as it started to burn. There's plenty left for another night.

Sending good vibes to everyone for a great week out there!

LOL @ almost burning dinner!! I do this too from time to time: forget I am cooking something (distraction or ADD, not sure which LOL)
