Guest guest
WHO R U LYING 2? Thursday, 29 May 2008 I became a professional liar at a very early age. See, at the tender age of only 8 years-old, I began lying about my weight. My dear parents would put me on diet after diet and I would always tell them that I had lost weight when I was on one of them. "Mom, Dad, I'm so excited, I lost two pounds!"As I announced the good news to, I'd run over to hug and kiss them both. But when my parents weren't looking, I cheated on those diets and lied about my weight. I did this a lot and I'm sure that's why my parents began to doubt me early on in the game! I mean, if I ran in and told them I'd lost two pounds, another three and then another four, well, that's nine pounds! And my parents would have been able to actually see that kind of weight-loss on me but...they didn't! So, needless to say, they knew their little Dicky was lying! But I kept telling them those not-so-little fibs when I was in elementary school and high school, too. Hey, with all those pounds I'd claimed to have lost, I should have weighed a negative 91 pounds! But who was I kidding, really? I'd look into the mirror and say to myself, "Who R U lying 2?"Today, there are people I'm trying to help who always tell me how much weight they're losing: "! I'm down six pounds this month! And I lost five pounds last month and four the month before that. And I feel just great!"But when I add in my head all the pounds they tell me they've lost over the weeks and, by gosh, (if they were telling me the truth), they'd weigh only 16 pounds! Now listen...you know I rejoice when you lose weight. Because I know how good you're feeling about taking good care of yourself and working to take control of your food addictions. But when I discover that you've fibbed a bit, then I feel very sad...for you!Listen, lying about your weight-loss gets you nowhere. And remember, I belonged to that club once, too. So let me go ahead and answer the question I posed to you in the title of this message, Who R U Lying 2? Are you lying to your family? Your spouse? Your children? Your friends? To me? No...to all of the above. The person you're lying to most is...YOU. And lying to yourself is the worse lie of all. For liars are fools who are only fooling themselves. When it comes to your weight, I've got a new rule: From today on, you have to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
