DON'T BELIEVE THEM!

I know, there are so many people in your life who've watched your difficult struggles with weight-loss. They've been there when you've tried the Cabbage Soup Diet, the Fruit Diet, the Liquid Diet, the High-Protein Diet and all the other, sometimes, wacky diets you may have tried in your lifetime.They've also watched you join different weight-loss organizations. They've watched as you began dieting with those different groups and their diet plans. And, sadly, they've watched you fail at many of them, too.

Your parents, your siblings...they've all been there on your birthdays or at Christmastime when, once again, you announced plans to your family that you were going to lose the weight. With great conviction, you'd let them know..."This time, I'm really gonna lose weight on this diet!"Then there are the friends who've been in your life for a very long time. You've also announced to them, often with great fanfare, "Just wait until you see the new me! I've started a new diet and I'm all jazzed up about it. I'm gonna do it!"And then there are your coworkers. Oh yes, they've seen you go up and down with your weight, too. "Everybody, guess what? I'm gonna drop these extra pounds once and for all. You're gonna see me shrink...right before your very eyes!"

And many of these people in your lives have looked you square in the eye and said things like, "Oh, for crying out loud! Why don't you stop the whole dieting thing and just accept yourself for who you are? You're never going to lose the weight and you may as well accept that fact!"Oh yeah? Is that the way they feel? Well, let me tell ya'...don't believe them. And I mean not a word of it! How do they know whether you're going to lose weight this time, huh? Yes, you've cried wolf about your weight to so many people and for so many years. But still, this is no way for them to give you the support you need when you're trying to lose weight!Hey, if I told you how many diets I'd been on in the past, well...you'd be shocked! Because I've dieted, I'd say, for the major part of my life. And people would often say to me, "You're never going to get the weight off and keep it off."But I proved them wrong, didn't I? And you have to prove them wrong about your own ability to lose this weight. And you know how to do it, too. You have to move your body daily, watch those portions of food you're eating and stay motivated!

But I have another suggestion. When you start your weight-loss program, this time, don't tell anyone what you're doing...just do it! Keep it to yourself...and to your fat cells. Then, as you begin losing weight, just let them notice your success and...they will! Won't that be fun? Then, in place of their negative attitudes, you'll begin receiving a mouthful of praise and compliments.And oh, there's one last thing I want you to remember. And that is don't believe anyone...who doesn't believe in you!Love,
