Guest guest
THAT MAGIC MOMENT Monday, 23 June 2008 I'm so lucky! Everyday, I get to talk to people who've been successful on their weight-loss programs. Bubbles seem to come from their mouths as they all tell me how they're eating. They tell me about which foods they've given up. They tell me about their exercise programs. They tell me how, at first, they could only do five minutes of exercise but after they kept trying, they're now able to do a full hour! They also tell me about how good they feel about themselves and of all the activities they're able to do since losing weight. They tell me how proud everyone is of them. And they tell me about the all new lives they live now.And although they're talking about weight-loss, each of them has such very different stories of how they began their journeys. And the one question I have to ask each of them is: "What was that magic moment when everything clicked and you decided to get started?" "Well, , I was at a family reunion and I'm not really one for taking pictures. But since this was such a special occasion, I went ahead and posed for a few. Later that week, I received some of those photos in the mail from the reunion and I almost fell off my chair when I saw them. With one look at those photos, I made up my mind that I did not want to look that way any more. I was going to have to do something about my weight!""I put on weight after having each of my children. But one day, after all three of them were born, I stood looking at myself in the mirror. I was 80 pounds heavier than before I had my first child and for the first time, it hit me hard how much weight I'd gained! I asked myself...'How did I get this way?' I had no answer for that question to myself but I knew and realized one thing, I did not want to be a "Fat Mama!" And once I made the decision that I wanted to be a healthy Mama, there was no stopping me!" "After working for the same company for nearly 18 years, I was let go when they began a downsizing program. I never thought they would let me go after all of the years I'd worked for them but...they did. For the company, seems it was cheaper to hire younger people than to keep on the older employees, like me. After I got over the shock, I put a resume together and took out some clothes that I could wear on my job interviews. I hadn't worn those clothes in a very long time and you know what, ? None of them and I mean none of them even came close to fitting me. I needed to get ready and get myself in shape to go out there and find a new job. It was all the motivation I needed!"I know a lot of you who've successfully lost weight know exactly when your magic moment occurred. But I also know that for some of you, that magic moment still has not arrived. And you're still losing the same-old five or ten pounds, and gaining them, and losing them...all over again. But it's time to find your magic moment and I mean find it now. Take a look at a recent photo of yourself and ask yourself, is this the way I want to look? Then take a look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself the same question. It's time to take a little visual inventory, don't you think? You need to be inspired to look and feel better. So tell me, what will be your inspiration? My magic moment was that I knew I didn't want to die. And that moment turned my life around for me.I wish you a magic moment!Love,
