Guest guest
LET ME LOOK IN YOUR CLOSET! Saturday, 29 March 2008 Every year about this time, I go through a spring cleaning...of my clothes. Oh goodness, I sure have a lot of them, clothes, that is.My closets are so stuffed that I have to pull the clothes apart like I'm parting the Red Sea just to get out a tank-top or a pair of shorts. What, you too? Are you a "keeper of clothes," like me? Well today, after class, I will take everything out of my closets and drawers and just clean! I'm sure I'll find things in my closet that I haven't worn in a year or maybe even a decade! So I will take all of the clothes that my body no longer needs, fold them nicely and give them all to charity. I'm sure many of you have done the same thing before, too. Now, as I said in the title of this message, let me look in your closet. Wow! It's pretty crowded in there, isn't it? So many clothes and in so many different sizes, too! You've really got to get rid of all the stuff that doesn't fit you anymore.I talked to a lady the other day who has lost 90 pounds. And I have to say, she looks so fine and dandy these days! But you know what she told me? Well, she told me that she was keeping all of her "fat" clothes, just in case she gained her weight back! S-a-a-y, what kind of way is that to be thinking, huh?I told her to get rid of those fat clothes and to never think that way again! I told her to just keep working hard to stay at the size she's in right now, which is a flattering size 8. Getting back to your closet, I have to ask...how many black things do you have in there? How many of your clothes are brown, dark gray or navy blue? Aren't all of those nice colors for your weight? Now look, everybody...it's Spring! And that means it's time to turn yourself into a colorful peacock! Don't be afraid to wear a lovely seafoam green, some terra cotta or mauves. I don't care what your size is now, if you don't have bright, colorful spring tops and bottoms, then go shopping! There are more discount stores these days than there are full-priced stores. Besides that, the full-priced department stores are always having good sales. There's Macy's, Dillards's, Target, Wal-Mart, TJMaxx and then there's the Internet where you can find some real clothing bargains, too. Plus, as I'm sure you've noticed, there are outlet malls everywhere. And the neat thing about outlet malls is where they used to sell mostly merchandise that might be damaged or slightly irregular, it's just not the case anymore. In fact, many of the major clothing manufacturers now make dedicated lines that are sold exclusively at their outlet centers. So there are some good, fashionable deals in those outlet stores these days! So go try on some pretty, fun things. And when you try them on, the first thing you shouldn't say is "Look how fat I look in this size 18!" Now stop it, you little gremlin of negativity! Try on that festive peach-colored top, look in the mirror and give yourself a little wink! Colorful clothes make you feel good. And heck, don't you think you deserve to feel good? Not just the flowers, baby, it's time for you to bloom! So go out this weekend and buy something fun and colorful that matches the flowers in your garden!Your Shopping Pal,
